Brees era: Best MN beatdown?
New Orleans Saints v.s. New England Patriots - YouTube
Mine is the MN game against the Pats. I was watching it with my Father-In-Law (whom I can't stand). He sat there in dead silence. I couldn't really cheer, didn't want to rub it in, but I had this #!@#$ eating grin on my face with a cold one in hand the whole game. Watching him get up with his head down saying he's going to bed...good times my friends. Good times. |
Re: Brees era: Best MN beatdown?
I've done it, too -- you can watch that game now and say -- "holy ******, that team is going to go on and win the Super Bowl." It was apparent even as it happened, in the moment, in real time. That game was the key that unlocked the whole door, even though there were other locks to be undone further down the line.
Call me Captain Sunshine, but I think the best Brees Monday Night Beatdown thread has yet to be written. Call me delusional, but I do no think we have heard the last of that guy in a night game in prime time. He's gonna tear some defense apart in the future, in ways that people never dreamed of, and some of those defensive players who get schooled and run all over, they may even still be in high school right now, playing hard, and not know what their day of destiny really is, to be plowed through and demolished by Brees and be a footnote in his career. It'll be written about when it's all over. |

The Patriots in 2009, and to some degree now, were considered to be the Gold Standard of the NFL. The way the Saints totally dominated the Patriots left no doubt that the New Orleans were going to the Super Bowl and win!! |
Re: Brees era: Best MN beatdown?
Easily the game vs pats for a couple of reasons
Brees was on point all game and got 5 TD's and 158.3 passer rating - perfect Jabari Greer and Tracy porter didn't play, malcolm Jenkins and Randall gay started at corner for us and we still shut them down The Darren sharper hit on Kevin Faulk, legendary Brees threw what I consider the best pass of his career on the play action deep pass to meachem Listening to jim henderson go crazy at every catch because we broke it loose at will And finally The look on Tom bradys face when brees thew TD number 5 |
Re: Brees era: Best MN beatdown?
My favorite play was when the Pats left Henderson uncovered and Brees hit him in stride!!

Re: Brees era: Best MN beatdown?
My 2nd favorite was the beatdown of Dallas!!

Re: Brees era: Best MN beatdown?

Re: Brees era: Best MN beatdown?
Nothing tops the win in '06 vs falcons. C'mon guys the reopening of the dome. The Steve Gleason punt block. By far my favorite MNF moment in the Brees era.

Re: Brees era: Best MN beatdown?
I remember thinking in both the '06/'09 MNF games (from the outside-looking-in), "WTF is in the Gatorade?" ... started viewing Brady a little more critically after '09 also.

Re: Brees era: Best MN beatdown?
Would have been the New England game, if it had occurred a little earlier.
Let me explain. I lived in NH for 6 years. The guys stick it to you with the Pats (and Red Sox and Celtics). And as we all know, the Pats are hardly unsuccessful these days. So it would have been great for that game to have been before I left in 2008. So instead I choose that MN beatdown of the Pats in 2009 :itsgood: |
Re: Brees era: Best MN beatdown?
The Pats in '09......the look on Belichecs face was priceless.
