Former New Orleans defensive coordinator Gregg Williams testified that he tried to shut down the team's bounty system when the NFL began investigating but was overruled by interim Saints head coach Joe Vitt, according to transcripts from appeals hearings obtained by The Associated Press.

According to the transcripts, Williams said that then-assistant Vitt responded to a suggestion that the pay-for-pain setup be abandoned with an obscenity-filled speech about how NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell ''wasn't going to ... tell us to ... stop doing what won us the Super Bowl. This has been going on in the ... National Football League forever, and it will go on here forever, when they run (me) out of there, it will still go on.''

Yeah....we're supposed to believe that the guy thats had programs like this in every place he's been, and has been investigated before, all of a sudden wants to stop. And is told by a LB coach not to. No matter how much clout Vitt has with the team...it has been stated clearly that GW had full autonomy over the defense...it was even written in his contract.....GTFOH GW. Nothing is gonna save you. Even if you are reinstated...YOU ARE DONE CUZ PLAYERS WILL NEVER RESPECT YOU AGAIN.

This is actually good. No one will want this little sniveling ***** on they're team now. We know most teams do stuff they are not supposed to. And in the event they get caught they wouldn't want a traitor like him around.

Remember when Benson hired Louis Freeh to investigate all the stuff? Staff issues, leadership problems and corporate culture of the entire organization will be addressed from top to bottom in that report, regardless of whether it gets made public or not. There will be internal changes made, to the Saints organization, many that we cannot see, and no doubt some have already been made. It is a lot more involved than just firing everybody.
