Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
1 Attachment(s)
METAIRIE, La. — Joe Morgan simply walked into the cafeteria at the Saints training facility in Metairie after New Orleans’ win over Tampa Bay in October, unaware of just how spectacular his 48-yard touchdown catch was to watch.
It didn’t take him long to figure it out. Playing on the TVs in the common area was ESPN and, at that moment, the World Wide Leader’s Sports Science segment. And on that segment, Morgan finally saw it – the play in which he shook two Bucs defenders, somehow stayed on his feet and waltzed into the end zone. “It took me by surprise to actually see myself on that crazy show,” Morgan said. Safe to say, Morgan has taken many people by surprise this year. He has seven catches for an astounding 44.3 yard average. Take away his first reception of the season – a five-yard catch at Carolina on Sept. 16 – and his average jumps to 50 yards per. While he doesn’t qualify for any official stats because of the limited amount of receptions, ProFootballReference.com says his per catch average is highest for any player with at least seven catches in a single season. It’s a ridiculous statistic in spite of the limited touches. Or, as Morgan said, “That’s unbelievable.” Morgan isn’t a player talked about openly as being in the Saints’ future plans. But he’s making it hard for the team to keep him on the bench. Read more: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy | wwltv.com New Orleans |

Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
Morgan has definitley impressed this season, he has made some fantastic catches and to say he looks like a smaller guy he is strong after the catch

Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
I'd love to see him Colston Toon and Moore ok the field together. I'm excited to see what Toon can do.

I forgot all about toon... haha

Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
I would like to see us get a good hands reciever in the draft, Morgan seems good and possibly a keeper but personally it would not hurt to draft another Colston type, big with good hands that is durable.

Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
Guess he showed us today ... Good Job, Capt Morgan!

Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
I feel much better about possibly losing Henderson now.

Likewise. Hopefully Devery takes a pay cut and comes back. But if he doesn't, Morgan's performance over the past couple of weeks have made it easier at the thought of losing Devery.
Morgan has come a long ways since the first handful of games. |
Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
How much have his hands improved over the season
At the start he dropped 5 yard passes Now he makes diving catches, catches deep passes whilst getting hit by the safety and flat out makes plays I'm excited to see him develop, he has really made an impact this season |
Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
Looking good for next season I was hatin on the guy at the beginning of the season but he has became a lot better....

Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
Theres no doubt, Morgan has been impressive. I liked him in preseason but hated that he dropped all those passes in the beginning of the regular season. He's developed nicely and is a keeper imo.

Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
My question this season has been, where the hell has Devery Henderson been?
I have seen him do nothing this season, hes been absent in 90% of the games we have played. |

He may be near the end of his career. He'll be 31 next season. He may make a decent back-up journeyman WR, but it may not be here. |
Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
Yea... but you will miss Henderson's blocking on the outside.
We shall see. I will trust in what Payton does. |
Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
He has good hands and seems to have alot of potential if he can stay healthy. He needs to bulk up a little.

But agreed, in Payton and Loomis we trust. |

On mark Ingrams cut back runs, joe Morgan always seals the cut back lane and that gives Ingram room to run |
Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
Some of you may remember that I am a big Devery Henderson fan, but with that said, his time appears to be up with the Saints. Will be a free agent after this year, this time I don't see him coming back. This kid Morgan, may indeed, be starting next year for the Saints.

Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
Dont Morgan have like 5-6 TDs this season?
For what hes used for, he has typical stats for a deep threat like Henderson did. |
Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
3 TDs
|
Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
It just goes to show you Joe wanted it.
|
Re: Saints WR Morgan ready to be more than just another guy
We also picked up a guy named Hakim who runs a 4.2, lets not leave him out. And we activated him for this game this week to boot.
