Jenkins and Brown to IR...
1 Attachment(s)
New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Saturday that the team has placed T Charles Brown and S Malcolm Jenkins on the reserve/injured list, ending the season for the two players. In two related transactions, the Saints have signed G Ricky Henry and S Jerico Nelson to the active roster from the team’s practice squad.
New Orleans Saints Place OT Charles Brown and S Malcolm Jenkins on Injured Reserve Saints placed FS Malcolm Jenkins (hamstring) on season-ending injured reserve. Jenkins has started every game this season for New Orleans, but he was forced to leave last week's contest against the Giants with the injury. It's been a terrible year for Jenkins on the field. He's graded out as Pro Football Focus' second-worst safety out of a qualifying 86 players. Isa Abdul-Quddus will get the final three starts at free safety. Source: Aaron Wilson on Twitter |
Re: Jenkins and Brown to IR...
Wow. I knew he was bad. Didn't know he was that bad. How can this defense have 4 (that I know of) Jordan, Ellis, P Rob, and Jenkins. And suck this freaking bad????

Re: Jenkins and Brown to IR...
At least we get to see what Isa can do in a starting role here at the end of the season.

if quddus can finish the season strong, he'd have a head start on the starting spot over jenkins next year |

If you're talking about 1st round draft picks... then add Smith, Bunkley and Vilma to that list, and a some of them were 2nd rounders - at least, Lofton, Harper and McBride. Mr. Brown is the proverbial Mr. Glass, and his NFL career has got to be nearing its end, since he cannot stay healthy when given the chance to take the field. |

Time to put some new blood out there on "D" and see what we've got anyway.

Re: Jenkins and Brown to IR...
Graded out as 2nd worst, ay? Both of our safeties get over hyped for the amount of tackles they get, but those of us who understand football know those numbers mean nothing. Factor in the missed tackles, the bad angles allowing more yards than necessary, all the blown coverages, and you wind up with a very low grade. I don't wish injuries on anyone, but I do welcome the chance to see what some other guys can do at this point.

Re: Jenkins and Brown to IR...
This is kinda' the reason I chose 'safety' as a priority I'd like to see the Saints address early in the draft in the current poll. Had it been a multiple-pick poll, I'd probably have chosen most of the defensive selections. Didn't factor Abdul-Quddus into my decision, but the little I've seen of him this season probably wouldn't have swayed it much.
He's got three games to prove a point. |
