Re: Scott Shanle's positive memories with New Orleans Saints will outweigh 'difficult' 2012 season
People don't seem to remember just how bad our LB's were before Shanle, Fujita and Vilma got here. Or how much they appreciated how well those 3 played for us. It's hard to imagine that was 7 years ago and these players have aged. Shanle, Fujita and Vilma helped us win a Super Bowl and now their time is coming to an end as does the career of every player in the NFL. Some fans have become so spoiled that they have been very harsh on Shanle and are now becoming harsh toward Vilma. It's one thing for a player to see his talents diminish but I wish our fans would be more graceful and appreciative of the accomplishments of these players that brought us to the mountain top. Yes, their talents have diminished and yes , it's time to replace them, but we should thank them for their contributions to winning a Super Bowl for a team and a city that saw some of the worst football in the history of the sport for over 40 years. These guy brought us out of the darkness of perennial losing seasons and laughable football, into the bright sunlight of a championship and I thank each and every one of them for what they did for me, our team and our city and I want to let them know that I appreciate them for that.

Shanle can already see the writing on the wall. He's been inactive for eight of the last nine games, despite being fully healthy.
Time to say Good Bye. Thanks Scott ! Good luck in the future. |

He was below average when he came and he is below average when he is leaving. Sorry if I don't care to give him a hug for being a "nice guy"! |

He was paid 4 million over the last 2 years to produce.... never produced.
He had no bigger role in the Super Bowl winning than did the water boys. As far as for how bad our line backers were before Shanle. Jackson, Mills, Swilling.... |

Sedrick Hodge, Ronald McKinnon, and Colby Bockwoldt. Of course we also had the "outstanding" T.J. Slaughter, Terrence Melton, and Courtney Watson. I would take Scott Shanle over any of them even now. |

Stats don't always tell the story but in Shanle's case it does. He hasn't done anything noteworthy. A lot of fans fall in love with players. I don't understand the love for this guy. It's not like he ever did anything great and is just declining as he gets older. You can go back and find thread after thread 8+ pages on Hartley and most are ready to send him away. Will we see this same kind of thread for him? At least he did actually contribute. |

hate the guy on the field... absolutely awful player because he wasn't athletic enough. I do think he was one of the most classy players we had and actually would like to see him as a coach. He always seemed to be a smart player but couldn't translate it to being great on the field.
