He was far better than anything we had at the time when he came.

Maybe. I'm sure it could be debated. Me personally, I have never liked him. He was always slow and he could never cover and he could never shed a block. His tackling was always meh.

Stats don't always tell the story but in Shanle's case it does. He hasn't done anything noteworthy.

A lot of fans fall in love with players. I don't understand the love for this guy. It's not like he ever did anything great and is just declining as he gets older.

You can go back and find thread after thread 8+ pages on Hartley and most are ready to send him away. Will we see this same kind of thread for him? At least he did actually contribute.

Well, I trust the judgement of the players on the field with him more than that of a fellow fan. You are aware of the fact that Shanle was voted by fellow Saints players as the Defensive MVP for the 2008 season, right?
