Question for the Forum
Will the Saints keep 4 RBs next year?
The Saints were fairly successful using a RB-by-committee system, although, unless it was punishment for fumbling in the pre-season, I don't know why Ivory wasn't used earlier. If the Saints decide to just keep 3 RBs next year, I see Ingram as being traded, hopefully for needed defensive help. |
Re: Question for the Forum
I think either Ingram or Ivory will be gone in the off season. Just my opinion.
|
Re: Question for the Forum
Id trade Ingram for a second or early 3rd.
|
Re: Question for the Forum
No, we keep 5...Ingram, Ivory, Sproles, PT, and Cadet.
|
Re: Question for the Forum
Ingram is not getting traded, so that's out the window. I hate saying it but the only RB that won't be back next year is Ivory.
|
Re: Question for the Forum
I think trading Ingram is out, and we can actually get something for Ivory and have got to plug holes some how. We have no money so look for trades to be the way to acquire what we need.

It ain't broke don't fix it.

Re: Question for the Forum
It is my hope that Ingram is finally starting to break out after his performances the latter part of the season. I don't want to give up on him just yet and I don't think the organization wants to do that either. Ivory is a restricted free agent, so we could tender him with a draft pick high enough to make a team in need reach for his services if they really want him. PT and Sproles aren't going anywhere. As much as I like Ivory, if someone is willing to part with a high enough draft pick after he is tendered, I would say pull the trigger on it. I believe next year we will see mostly the three-headed monster of Ingram, PT and Sproles. That would leave Cadet being the fourth RB with possibly another undrafted free agent slipping in to make the practice squad.

Be interesting what we could get for Ivory.Cant see anything better than a 5th.

Re: Question for the Forum
I would prefer if we kept fewer back and made one of the our featured back. Don't think that will happen thou.
|
Re: Question for the Forum
I'd like us to change our approach and make Ingram our feature back, much like we did with deuce, even in 2006 deuce was our carry the load back

Re: Question for the Forum
I like Ivory but who is going to trade for a back that can't stay healthy?

Re: Question for the Forum
I don't see the Saints parting with Ingram. Maybe if Ivory could stay healthy, but, he can't, so, they won't.
I think D_it_up has the right idea with tendering Ivory with a high draft pick. Best move the team has. |
I don't see teams offering him the money for a high pick. With RB dropping later now in the draft teams are happy to wait.
Lacy is being marked as a late 2nd/3rd round pick,Bell the same. Silas Red 3/4 and Kenjon Barner a 4/5 coming off 1,624 yards and 21 touchdowns this season and is averaging 6.6 yards per carry. 19 receptions for 232 yards 1TD Best we can get is a 5th maybe lucky and nab a 4th but I doubt it.The man can't stay injury free and I don't think teams take a chance. |

We might get a 6th or a 7th. I'd rather keep him. Until he's actually costing us a valuable roster spot somewhere else, I'd keep him and play him when the other backs get beat up. When healthy the dude is a flat out beast. As Hokie puts it, he's an anvil in cleats. |
Re: Question for the Forum
I think this team has a knack every August for keeping the best 53 players, AT THAT TIME, whatever their position. Cadet basically fought his way into the roster, resulting in somebody else getting cut, at another completely different position. No one will trade anything of value for Ivory, because practically no one else knows who he is, besides the people in this forum.
If any of these backs aren't here next year, it will probably be because somebody else made a better case for proving their worth and value for that spot on the 53. To be "depth" on the Saints roster at the end of preseason, you are not just competing against the 4-5 guys at your same position, but against basically everybody in camp, who may be better at what they do than what you do. Payton is a master at tweaking and juggling those last 3-4 spots to fit the best players on there. |

Re: Question for the Forum
Ruud is a journeyman backup player who has been on what? Five different teams now? How many teams has Ivory been on, besides the Saints. Ruud is a second round draft pick, from a BIG school (Nebraska), he's got seven years experience in the league. Ivory's undrafted, paid the league minimum salary, from a school that a lot of people don't even know has a football program. In terms of their resume, the two are not really similar at all, they almost couldn't be more opposite of each other.

Re: Question for the Forum
I reckon we should keep a maximum of 4, but way of a change use them when they seem they can be effective.
Much better than having 5, and under-utilising the rushing playbook. |
Re: Question for the Forum
Trade Cadet, keep the rest.

Just thinking of freeing up a RB slot for something else, if he is considered that. If not, I retract. |

If you want a draft pick, you're gonna have to trade Darren Sproles. |
Re: Question for the Forum
cadet is a special teamer and they are working him some as wr. he's cheap and don't think he's going anywhere. I think devery is gone and cadet, toon and Morgan will take up the slack with Colston and Moore.
