My worry with him is that he may not be ready now.
If we didnt have so many problems that needed fixed i wouldnt mind a player like that but turning down a player that can do the job now is a risk.
Im really not sure whether i would prefer a OT/DE/DT in the first.
Id be tempted to leave the DE till the third when the likes of Carradine and Hunt could still be there.

Should have a better idea after the combines and Free agency starts.

To me, it depends on what Jake Long wants, I don't extend Bushrod just because he's my guy. A healthy Jake Long is worth two damn Bushrods and you can get him on the cheap now because he has been hurt all season.

I'm all for it if it can be done.
We need so much that if we can get one done in FA if be made up.

Well if that is the case there is no way were drafting LB's, we would be drafting that DE, OT, CB because a healthy LB core with

Lofton, Vilma, Hawthorne, Casillas, and Chamberlain is gonna be this teams backbone, if they can stay healthy!!!!

I agree about Morgan probably taking Henderson's spot. It's really a shame we didn't use Joe more as it was becoming clear we weren't going anywhere. But he showed a lot of flash this year, and even if he never becomes a top two receiver on this team he will fill Devery's role just fine. Devery can still run, but for some reason he just isn't open anymore.

Also agree about Vilma, though I think it will have to be a significant restructure for him to return. He's going to have to take a massive pay cut, but he may very well have no other choice, so I won't be surprised if he stays. He shouldn't start, though. We're in trouble if we can't do any better than him. Love the guy, but he's lost more than a step.

i think Henderson and Shanle will be gone for sure. The only thing we can be sure of beside that is Payton will come back with a definite plan.

I think Bushrod and Vilma stay. I also see Morgan replacing Meachem as our deep threat and maybe Toon taking Devry's spot (Henderson is pretty old too). I don't imagine Ivory and Cadet will both be here though, Elis will go (that can't happen soon enough), Shanle, Smith might restructure and hopefully a slough of secondary players (everyone except Jenkins and maybe Mack) get canned.

Lofton never checks out of a play which is another reason I want Vilma back. He may be old, slow and doesn't tackle very well anymore, but I still want him for the defensive captain and chess player against opposing QB's.
