New Orleans Saints Sign Four More To Future Contracts

Last week the New Orleans Saints signed five players to future/reserve contracts and this week the team added some more players. The Saints announced first that they signed two players to future contracts and then three days later the team announced the signing of two more players.

The Saints signed wide receiver Preston Parker and defensive end Jay Richardson, and then the team signed cornerback Dion Turner and linebacker Austin Johnson. The Saints have wasted no time this off-season in solidifying their roster. The Saints have now signed nine players to future/reserve contracts in the past two weeks.

Preston most recently played with the Saints’ divisional rival the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but only appeared in two games this season. It was noted that Preston was in the “dog house” and had fallen out of favor with Buccaneers coach Greg Schiano. However, in 2011 Preston did make 40 catches for 554 yards and three touchdowns.

With the Saints so stacked at wide receiver it might be difficult for a lot of players to make the active roster. However, Preston is an experienced and proven receiver and could turn a lot of heads during the off-season.

The Saints are loading up on players in the off-season so they can have plenty of options when it comes down to selecting the final 53-man roster. One thing is for sure, there will be plenty of competition this off-season as many players will be fighting for one of the precious roster spots on the Saints.
