I wish him the best. Sorry to see him go. He did a great job here.

Really? Wow.
Good luck.

Linkage...Marc Trestman, HC for Bears, and Aaron Kromer were on the same offensive staff together in Oakland from 2001-03.

I'm sure Mickey has a list of candidates for every position, probably approved by Payton last year.

They knew this could happen and I'm sure they prepared for it.

Could be a fair few changes in the coaching department this summer.
Might be a good thing,if we can get new coaches signed quickly.
Things go stale after a while s d players stop listening.Fresh ideas, new voices for a new season.

Good luck to Kromer and any others that go,but I'm not too worried.
Can't see it working for him in Chicago myself. His and Carmichaels play calling was appalling last season, and he has nowhere near the same toys to play with in Chicago. He never got the best out of any of the backs so I'd fear for Forte and Bush if I was a bears fan.

I just worry about how out-of-date the list will be. That was almost a year ago.

I' m bummed. Kromer was a big reason why underperforming unknown guys like Bushrod, Strief, could still hold it together, he's why our tight ends are so good at blocking, and he played a part in Jahri Evans *earning* the highest paid guard contract (at the time) and the story of Carl Nicks' transformation from a nobody fifth rounder into one of the best in the NFL. All that happened with him in the mix.

Unlike Carmichael, I could easily see Kromer really thriving outside of the Brees orbit. As offensive coordinator of a decent offense with a history of line problems, he will be a force there and I think the Bears will really improve.

So he left us for them and to have the same job....
God I hope he goes 3-13

Re: Kromer hired by Bears...

An offensive line coach calling plays? Yeah, that sounds like something the Bears would do. I'm not surprised. I'm glad I'm not a Bears fan, because they seem to be cursed with either average or downright awful offenses.

I will state again that I'm not worried about any of the current assistants. They didn't pull their weight without Payton. I consider position coaches to be a dime a dozen.

Re: Kromer hired by Bears...

I can see him leaving for a Head Coach job... couldn't blame him there.
But leaving for the exact same thing... sounds like it was all about money.

Either had to be about the green or a chance to reunite w/ an old friend. Not sure why'd he want to leave for a lateral move. I've always said, can't blame a guy for wanting to better himself, hopefully he has continued success. We'll be fine.

Have fun with Jay Cutler when he blows up on you like a bay on National TV

Re: Kromer hired by Bears...

He was hired as the Offensive Coordinators position. It's a step up from O-line coach.

Re: Kromer hired by Bears...

If they don't get other HC or OC gigs how about a look at Ken Whisenhunt or Pat Shurmur? Both have offensive line and OC experience.

Ill put $ that the New Orleans Saints front office has been prepared for replacing coaches since the day after we won the Super Bowl in 2009....

The Bears also just hired a new head coach out of the CFL.

You do realize that he was an o-Line coach with the Saints and this is a promotion to O-Coordinator?

This is just my guess, but I don't think the Saints will go after any big, or semi-big names, even if Carmichael leaves aswell. Simply because Sean is the actual play caller. And I don't see any former head coaches coming in just to coach the O-line. The replacements will probably be people we've never heard of.

I knew this.... when I read the topic I got pissed andtotally forgot about it. Wasn't until someone mentioned it. I still wish they had taken Carmichael than Kromer.

But yeah I did know that..

It has been reported Trestman will call the plays and not Kromer.

Re: Kromer hired by Bears...

After an 0-4 start, Kromer stood in front the media and neither cried nor whined about that disgrace, promising fans that the team and coaches were working hard and there would be a better outcome. He won the next 2 games.

It took ballz for him to stand out professionally under that kind of attention and pressure for the first time. He was thrust into the HC position, not hired into it. He managed the team as HC and o-line coach, and I'm sure the Bears and NFL want to see what grooming him some more will produce.

Kromer grew up quickly as a coach to be a HC and leader. Best of luck to him.

As for our Saints, we need to hire the very best o-line coach we can buy because o-line is the heart of this team. When our o-line plays consistent, the Saints are an unstoppable force, weather the defense shows up during the game or not.

The Bears will have the best offence in the NFC North next season, the main reason will be Kromer teaching their OL to block so Cutler don't have to spend as much time on his back as Paris Hilton at an after party.

You sure Paris Hilton was on her back?

So very true. Frankly I'd be willing to invest in the o-line as much or more as the defense even after how poorly the d played this past season.

The one thing I remember about the Cowboys of the 90's isn't Irvin, Smith, or Troy. It was that brick wall of an offensive line they had back then. I've not seen a line play like that SINCE then.

Our O Line isn't terrible by any means, but IMO it is overrated. Let's move on and lets get better.

Hmmm......I don't think we play them next year. We will have a fresh new play book. So good luck.

Aaron was absolutely horrible as interim head coach for the first six weeks. Way out of his depth. But a good O-line coach he is.

I'm telling you, LA Taxpayers and Saints Consumers need to gain some leverage on Herr Goodell and file very winnable suits in federal court and bend this jerk over the pommel horse...

I can. I'm pretty good on the runninggame trough zone and pro-I but my area of expertise is passpro.

I have mostly coached highschool aged players but the difference can't be that big right? ;-)

Wow, that smells like disaster to me. Kromer stunk as our interim doing HC and O-Line coaching so you expect better??:smokin:
