Vilma's case dismissed...

@gregaiello Judge Berrigan has dismissed the Vilma/Ginsberg defamation case against Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Berrigan in the dismissal: "Even though this matter has been pending only since May of this year, it feels as protracted and painful as the Saints season itself, and calls for closure."

That's sad for Vilma's sake and the legacy he will leave behind - especially considering he wanted to get his name cleared for the sake of his daughter.

Re: Vilma's case dismissed...

NFL Network was talking about it. Saying the Judge still felt that Roger handled everything so poorly. Since Tagliabue got rid of all suspensions/fines, she felt this was the only way both sides could end and get over it...

Vilma can still take it to circuit court is he so chooses...

There was absolutely NO chance of that lawsuit going forward. It's all over and done folks... Can we now finally put every aspect of this crap behind us? R.I.P. anything Bountygate related.

Rumor has it Mr. Goodell is being asked to be a part of Mardi Gras. He is being asked to be King of the Krewe of Douchebags. His Queen has yet to be named, but rumor has it Judge Berrigan is considering his offer.

Confirmation will follow by Jeff Duncan, Master of Ceremony for the Krewe of Douchebags.

Not surprising really, but very sad indeed.

No. Because our coach is still suspended, and the team is still facing a draft without a 2nd round pick as part of this mess.

I'm actually surprised. I thought he had a good case. Someone I believe leaned on her to drop it. She said herself, she had a problem with RG but not enough to pursue what is right? I know it's hard to prove but the $10K on the table with no evidence or anyone to back up the story is slander IMO when it's released to the media. It damaged his career.

Perhaps Goodell put in a call to Obama and said "make this go away"

Anyone think the next announcement will be that Coach Payton is reinstated? Vilma is very quiet on this so far....

Yeah, after Febuary 3rd...

Godhell will wait to reinstate Payton. He can't have Payton hiring future coaches and getting the team ready.....not after all the time he spent tearing this team apart.
And as far as getting the second round draft pick back forget about it. Godhell is still pissed off. He isn't done with the Saints yet.
Vilma will also lose his job this year. Poor fellow.

Re: Vilma's case dismissed...

That sucks. I had hoped Vilma would get further vindication. I feared this, after Tagliabue's finely worded ruling.

I do like this part though..

"The Court nonetheless believes that had this matter been handled in a less heavy handed way, with greater fairness toward the players and the pressures they face, this litigation and the related cases would not have been necessary."

Without Vilma, just how worthless the "evidence" against us was would never been known. I am glad he fought it, and in a lot of ways (although not as many as I would have liked), he did win.

Oh and F*&* Goodell. He is one of the few people that I cannot even look at without feeling violent.

Hence the reason Tags did what he did. All a dog and pony show right up to RG acting like he was upset about Tags decision. EVERYTHING since the beginning has been calculated. The big bad NFL has won whether we like it or not.

That's exactly what I think too.

But at least they had to fight for it. For the team's sake, I'm glad the circus is over but I'm impressed with Vilma for standing up for himself when nobody but Whodats believed him.He risked his career to confront a bald face lie. The NFL may have "won" in the end but it was a pyrrhic victory and didn't end up the way they thought it would when they started all this and I don't think Goodell can be happy at the outcome.

Well, the Saints' damn sure didn't win anything. If the objective of the NFL was to punish the Saints, mission accomplished.
