COACH PAYTON SUSPENSION COMPARED TO

Still can't figure this out the Ray Lewis story fined only 250,000 who now seems to be the poster child of the NFL. And some JackAss in retaliation starts the Bounty Gate rumors and takes our Coach out for a year.

Ray Lewis Arrest for murder
Following a Super Bowl XXXIV party in Atlanta on January 31, 2000, a fight broke out between Lewis and another group of people, resulting in the stabbing deaths of Jacinth Baker and Richard Lollar. Eleven days after Lewis and two companions, Reginald Oakley and Joseph Sweeting, were questioned by Atlanta police, the three were indicted on murder and aggravated assault charges. The white suit Lewis was wearing the night of the killings has never been found. Prosecutors alleged that the bloodstained suit was dumped in a garbage bin outside a fast food restaurant.[25]
Lewis claimed that the prosecution knew he was not involved in the murder but chose to go ahead with the case anyway, saying "You don't care if I'm guilty or not. You gonna make sure I go to jail for life."[26]
Lewis' attorney arranged for the murder charges against Lewis to be dropped in exchange for his testimony against Oakley and Sweeting, and a guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice.[12] Lewis admitted that he gave a misleading statement to police on the morning after the killings. He was sentenced to one year of probation and was fined US$250,000 by the NFL, which was believed to be the highest fine levied against an NFL player for an infraction not involving substance abuse.[27]
Oakley and Sweeting were acquitted of the charges in June 2000.[28] No other suspects have ever been arrested for the crime.
The following year, Lewis was named Super Bowl XXXV MVP. However, the signature phrase "I'm going to Disney World!" was given instead by quarterback Trent Dilfer.
On April 29, 2004, Lewis reached a settlement with four-year-old India Lollar, born months after the death of her father Richard, preempting a scheduled civil proceeding. Lewis also reached an undisclosed settlement with Baker's family.[28]
Lewis is a Christian, and his commitment to his faith was featured in a Sports Illustrated cover story in 2006. He has six children by four women.

Re: COACH PAYTON SUSPENSION COMPARED TO

Bump up thread.

Can you explain this to me in a language that is a cross between Swahilli and Swedish so that I can understand?

We all have said this a thousand times.

For last time, Saints coulld have and should have been punished for dumb, stupid, private locker room, fire' em up kind of talk.
The punishments were way too severe.

Thanks Old Maid missed your thread. Living in the Balt/Wash corridor there is a lot more negative incidents that cloud Mr. Lewis that the NFL have not released. The Coach is an alter boy compared to Ray Ray.

Different comissioners thats the big thing I guess. I think the penalties would have been harsher under Godell. I have a hard time stomaching the medias portrayal of Lewis as som super person when he most likely should be in jail.

Ehhhhh, posting (tone) does not come out like actually speaking.

I am glad you posted this thread. I agree and like your thread.

Ok, Crusade good point. Diff commissioners.

BUT Goodell was Commiss and he allowed Vick come back into the NFL with like the red carpet unrolled ....

I know,I know, ya'll are saying let it go OM. 2013 is here. That is all ancient history now. Still for US Saints' fans, it will always be a question.

Re: COACH PAYTON SUSPENSION COMPARED TO

Still, if Ray had ever become available who amongst you wouldn't have been salivating over him. But now, back to topic. If you're looking at his punishment, you've got to count in what is essentially a $5.3M fine for not being allowed to work this year. **** man, corporations caught ****ing over the American public don't even get fined that heavily. It's way too much to hope for that rogger'll ever get his so I'm just hangin' on to waitin' two more weeks. Scum**** better reinstate Payton immediately after the game's over.

I agree Seer the fine was off the hook. Knowing what I know would have passed on Lewis.

Re: COACH PAYTON SUSPENSION COMPARED TO

ray is one of my favorite players ever. He alone would boost this D to a top 15. If he played here you would be singing a differnet tune. If one of defensive players had half his attitude and heart we would be a better d.
