Saints punter Thomas Morstead to have surgery following Pro Bowl

According to NFL on FOX sideline reporter and WVUE Sports anchor Jennifer Hale, New Orleans Saints punter Thomas Morstead will be headed under the knife following the Pro Bowl.

According to Hale, Morstead has actually had issues since college with calcium deposits in the patellar tendon in his left knee. Apparently he has been playing with some slight pain during the regular season and was gutting it out until the offseason.

Saints fans can breathe a sigh of relief since Hale also reported that the team knew about this already and that Morstead should be booming punts by the the time organized team activities come around.

This is following close behind Saints tight end Jimmy Graham’s recent surgery on his wrist after revealing that he had been playing through pain as well. Graham lead the NFL in dropped passes this season likely due in some part to the injury with 14.

Never a good thing when you need surgery but it sounds like he'll be ok.

He ran down that dude after the muffed FG in the Pro Bowl today, shouldn't be that bad. Fingers crossed

, I tuned in for about 5 seconds while surfing channels and I saw #6 running down the field to make a tackle ... didn't even know if it was a punt or a FG attempt. I thought to myself, "Man, there he goes again, toughest kicker in the NFL".

Glad the surgery isn't related to the ProBowl. When I saw the headline, I thought maybe he'd dislocated a shoulder or something during the game.

In a way that would have been better. He makes his money with his legs.

Yeah, but then we'd be having the discussion on him injuring himself in a game that means nothing, doing something he normally doesn't do ... except he did make a couple good tackles with the Saints towards the end of the season,.

Morestead just can't help himself. He just has to make the play. Awesome.

Morestud is a tough cookie. He probably won't even be sedated for surgery, lol.
