What Super Bowl Champion is the Greatest Team of All-Time? Here Are All 46 Super Bowl Winners, Ranked 1-46
11. 2009 New Orleans Saints
Like the ’98 Broncos, the 2009 Saints also started the year 13-0 before losing their last three games with home-field advantage already locked up. The Saints then blew out Arizona in the divisional round before almost losing to Brett Favre and the Vikings in the NFC Championship before winning SB 44. No word on whether Roger Goodell is trying to disqualify this Saints season. I say there was a lot more motivation than a few C-notes to knock out opposing players on that team. Ranking every Super Bowl winner, 1-46 |

That game was a battle of will. Were they the better team on paper...probably not but who does an onsides kick in the SB. Who does that? That alone it shoud be in the top 5.

Sure our team should have been ranked higher, but let's step back and think about how great a feeling it is that the Saints are ON that list to begin with.

Ranking every Super Bowl winner, 1-46 I'm a "homer" on most things, but there is NO WAY we can complain that the 2009 Saints were ranked #11. There were a lot of GREAT teams ranked below us. To me, if we made it in the top HALF (#23 or higher), it's an honor! Just my humble opinion. ![]() |

Although I don't agree with their choice of the '85 Bears as the Best Super Bowl Champions.
Especially since Ditka had William Perry score a TD instead of Walter Peyton! |

#1 it was a blow out #2 like you said, William Perry scored a TD which leads to #3 #3 Patriots had no business in that SB and thats why the blow out happened. My rankings for greatest team of all time as it pertains to SB winners, first thing I start out with is who did the winner face, did the loser of the SB belong in that game to start with? Then we go from there. Thats My opinion. The fact that the Saints and Colts were both #1 seeds, I would have no problem ranking them #10 or whatever it was. |

I think #11 is pretty fair, especially after considering the teams that are #1-#10. Those are some memorable teams, that's for sure, and it puts the Saints SB team in some pretty select company.
Good article, a lot of research went into that & for once I can pretty much concur with the conclusions, although I'm not a big '85 Bears fan, though they were great. Always liked the '72 Dolphins & the '78 Steelers better. |
