Re: "Reports" say Rob Ryan will try to get Anthony Spencer
hate to sign him to big deal and a few years later we are back in the same position as we are now with smith.
If we make this move on defense i say go with youth and acceptable contracts. Face facts Drew must be protected and that is priority #1 we have a 3 year window to get back to the super bowl OT is were the money will go |

Well we are not given the information as fact. It is at this time, speculation.
But it makes sense to let Rob Ryan have at least one player of his choice. |

It seems as though ChrisXVI already answered your question: Quote:
And those are the main reasons why I also think that Galette might not work out as the starting OLB. If he is going to play either one of the OLB posititons in a way that those positions are usually played - meaning he won't just be a glorified 4-3 DE who's brought to the LOS with his hand on the ground - he would have to learn a lot of things about how to read and react to different plays and seeing them unfold from a different vantage point on the field as opposed to where he lined up as a DE. Wilson's background of playing as a MLB and a WLB in college allows him to already have a better understanding of how to play a position outside of the front 4 (or front 3 in this case), and he was always projected as a tweener who could suit the 3-4 OLB position quite well. Another thing that worries me about Galette is that he has a history of not being the fastest learner, although some put a lot of that on GW's shoulders saying that he couldn't get all of the potential out of Galette, but I'm still reserved as to if that was truly the case in the end. It might take Galette a fairly long time to adjust to the new position and the responsibilities that go a long with it, on top of adjusting to a whole new base scheme and a new DC. If the Saints want to have an impact front 7 next season, they'll have to man the other starting OLB position with either a veteran like Spencer or they have to pick a rookie from the draft who can be a starter at that position from day 1. I'm not "hating" on Galette by saying this, I'm just trying to evaluate the situation objectively without letting the "story" behind the player cloud my judgment. |

Even though he is not the long term solution he might have a Darren Sharper type of impact.
