I think Payton hasn't forgotten the huge mistake he made when he let Carney go. Ultimately he replaced Carney with Carney.

With few exceptions kickers become steady and reliable but not with the team that signed them initially.

not that i follow college kickers, but washington seemed to do well with forbath just to name one UFA...they're out there. cut your losses and move on.

I agree with almost every thing SaintsBro says here. Hartley has a strong enough leg but he looks scared and uncertain every time he goes to kick. It's no wonder that Payton yelled at him about having his head down and shouted, "Have some nuts!"

If the game's on the line and Hartley is up to kick, I can't watch. No really, I go somewhere until it's over.
