I not that happy with any of the secondary but it will be interesting to see how they can do with a front 7 that can actually get to the opposing QB.
I'm looking toward to seeing a front three of Hicks-Bunkley-Jordan,alot of power in the two ends and a damn site more athletic than most of the tackles they will come up against. Now if we can get some pressure and containment from the OLB I think there will be a massive improvement on the defence. |
I'm not sure they ever grasped the Spagnuolo culture for there to be a difficult adjustment from it.
More of an anarchy to Ryan change in my opinion. |
Re: The Saints could face a culture change with their new defense
The ignorance of the media in general and the sports media in particular, never ceases to amaze me. One is like a cheap prostitute who sells out to the highest bidder, and the other is the unwanted, retarded stepchild.
However, before I digress further, these sports reporters have absolutely no clue about what kind of team, the Saints are. For 3 of the last 4 years, we've had a Ryan protege in Gregg Williams who built a man up defense. Man to man cover corners etc. We also played a lot of 3-4 fronts under Williams. Ryan's hire simply puts a permanent change to the 3-4 front as opposed to the 4-3 front and the rest bascially remains the same, so why do these media morons keep talking about how hard it's gonna be to change back to what we were doing just 2 years ago. The ignorance and stupidity just boggles the mind. |

I think the talent we have on hand right now is better suited for a 3-4 front and man-press coverages than last years 4-3 base, assuming Hicks doesn't regress. Throw in a NT and an WOLB and we're good to go. We may have thhat WOLB already in Galette and Wilson, but another one certainly wouldn't hurt. I think Wilson's final destination will be the SILB. He's got the perfect skillset for that position. |
Re: The Saints could face a culture change with their new defense
Personally I agree that Harper,Vilma, and Smith need to go. Smith wont take a big cut and he will have a bad attitude and be disruptive to the team if he stays(Not worth It) They dont know our team but Ellis has to go. Look at the money we can gain and lord knows we need a major culture change. I thinks Jenkins has a chance to be above average if he gets some help. Sure we need some a couple stud linemen but we should be able to do that if we cut these underachievers. Its time I just hope Payton takes care of this as he knows the history of these guys. Then let Ryan do his thing. My God with even a top10 or 15 middle of the road defense we should be able to roll. Come on have some Ba#$% and let these guys go. We need a good safety again badly.
