How long Does Drew have left... as a Saint?
 

There is a thread, may as well make a poll since I believe we have cleared up who our defensive coordinator will be.

This is not about his carer in the NFL, its about how long Drew will remain a Saint.

4 years left on his present contract.. 2 years left until his cap hit becomes lethal, possibly 6-10 years left in his career...

While it is nice to think he would retire in 8 years as a Saint, not all players get to do that... Favre, Montana, Smith...

I think he restructures down the road and finishes his career here or as long as Payton is the head coach.

6 to 10 years? So you think he will still be playing at 44 years old? I don't see that happening. It would be nice if he still can play at a high level, but probably unrealistic to expect that. Regardless of how much time he has left to play, I think he retires as a Saint.

If he is still playing in 6-10 years, he will be playing for another club... We will cut him and he will be brought in to mentor another teams QB... Thats how it has happened in the past with great QBs...

Also 8-10 years if the rules keep changing will not be that difficult to fathom.

The last year or two on the majority of contracts are BS.

No one knows how long he has as a Saint. My guess is as long as we compensate him accordingly.

If we low-ball him, he'll probably leave

If he high-balls us, we'll let him walk.

When Drew leave it will be on his own. Not sure if it will be as a Saint either. Not many people get a chance like Ray Lewis/ John Elway to walk away while on top after winning the big one. Thats how I'd like to see him go TBH.
However I have a feeling we will have moved on to the next franchise QB and some team will be needing a QB and Drew will do his best to help them.
However I hope he can go out on top with us.

He'll be with the Saints for 4 to 5 years and retire after that to pursue politics or something like that... to become the governor of Louisiana.

has nowhere else to go or prove himself to anyone else. he found his calling right here in narlins. and when his boys grow up? he he ha ha. u never no.

Judging from the degradation of his deep passes, he has two more effective years and then decline will be rapid with his altered/rebuilt shoulder...
