Re: Holder: Saints to tender Ivory
How did talking football all of a sudeen go to fighting in wars?
Alaska I really like reading some of your comments but the last few things you have said really missed the mark. It's probably the most ignorant thing you ever said... BTW.... I hit 15 years active duty this month. I look forward to the day I can retire and move back home to LA. War and footballl.... wow |
Re: Holder: Saints to tender Ivory
he has his moments when he is not on IR, I always love the rags to riches stories but IR is not going to do it
i hope the saints look at RB late in the draft or UDFA as possible replacements. they have some good backs out there late |

Don't compare football to war. That just makes you look like an ignorant douche... We get that you have an emotional attatchment to Ivory...cool.... But don't get all pi$$y because most people don't share the same sentiment for him that you do. There is turnover in football dude...always has been always will be. He's getting a tender....if he signs it cool...if he ends up leaving...you're more than welcome to continue stalking him to whatever team he goes to. But don't talk down to other fans because they don't share the same opinion of him as you do. We're not crybabies....you're the one thats crying because no one is praising him. Has he taken us to a SB like Drew, won a playoff game for us like Duece, or put the team on his back for an entire season like he was Adrian Peterson? No he hasn't......so don't get mad cuz we don't treat him like an MVP and state facts about his injury history.... |

Please stop quoting Alaska, its reached a point that I would have to delete 2 pages at least to clean this up.
Its obvious Chris Ivory is not at the heart of his short fuse this morning. Alaska, if you need anything PM me. Back to your regularly scheduled broadcast. |

I'm disappointed that the guy that flipped out calling 90% of the members of this site chumps has the word "Alaska" in his handle.

I think it has to be the former, but I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be the latter if the Saints were able to somehow get a 2nd rounder. |

He said he would give us back our 2nd rounder if we behaved......I guess we didn't toe the line even though the coaches and FO all said and did the right things. So, he said we're bad people(yes, bounty hunters) who don't deserve our 2nd round draft pick back. |
Re: Holder: Saints to tender Ivory
Don't wanna see him go..... But hope Ingram steps it up.... If not bbbuuuuuuusssstttttt !!!!!!!

Re: Holder: Saints to tender Ivory
So is this thread a hot LZ or what?!?

Re: Holder: Saints to tender Ivory
Goodell didn't give the 2nd round pick back because Loomis is still the GM, Payton is still the coach, and Vilma and Smith are still on the team. I have no illusions about that. I said all along, since way back at the beginning, that these punishments were purposefully designed to try and get certain targeted people fired, as a carrot and stick move, and it didn't work. Every person disciplined had some previous run in with Goodell that made him personally look bad. If we wanted the pain to stop, the Saints could have fired Payton and Loomis and cut Vilma and Smith and it would all have been over with, back to normal. (NOT saying that is what I wanted, just that it was one of Goodell's motives)

Re: Holder: Saints to tender Ivory
Only issue I have is we have too many running backs...
letys get something for them and beef up the defense. I like to keep 1. P.Thomas 2. D.Sproles 3. M.Ingram/C. Ivory either or |

Re: Holder: Saints to tender Ivory
Level 1: 1,323,000 $ (ROFR, Right Of First Refusal))
Level 2: 1,323,000 $ or 110% of 2012 salary (Original Round Pick) Level 3: 2,023,088 $ or 110% of 2012 salary (Second Round Pick) Level 4: 2,878,628 $ or 110% of 2012 salary (First Round Pick) second round cap hit? your getting to the point of having to pick cap vs production. at this point i have to pause and really debate the worth if he can not stay health. health is the key here. 2 million for what less than 100 plays, not carries, in a season? i am not solid on it there are some late round and UDFA options Spencer Ware*, RB, LSU Height: 5-11. Weight: 223 Cameron Marshall, RB, Arizona State Height: 5-11. Weight: 223. Washaun Ealey, RB, Jacksonville State Height: 5-11. Weight: 215 All more cap friendly and less injury history. |

And lets not forget about Cadet, he did show some flashes in the preseason when he was subbing with Ivory, and I think he could become a solid scat back and a true weapon in the screen game.

I'd still prefer to shift one or two of the backs and bring in a large short down/goal line back.

Re: Holder: Saints to tender Ivory
Man I totally forgot about Cadet!
The only reason I don't want Ingram to go is because he was a 1st rounders... but sooner or later we need to cut our losses. |
Re: Holder: Saints to tender Ivory
I disagree with most of you here about Ivory. I would trade Ingram before I let Ivory go and get something back for him like a killer defensive player. I think he should have had more playing time last year. Think he got in a spat with management about not playing enough. Ingram gets hurt all the time also and was out a bunch with his damn toe among other things. With Sproles, Thomas, Ivory and Cadet as a insurance I don't think we need anything else. Ivory needs to clean up his attitude maybe and push Ingram out as trade bait. Probably noone will read this last thread but thats OK.

Another example: he had trouble with kickers early on in his career here, guys were missing crucial kicks -- I forget exactly which ones, but Carny missed something , Billy Cundiff missed a big one in the NFC championship game, then Olindo Mare missed something horrible... The Saints had troubles with kickers even before Sean Payton got here -- River City Relay, anyone? So Payton gets here and the kicking troubles continue -- I vaguely remember there were several games early on when Payton was here, where they would always line up for these crucial long field goals and miss, so it was like "oh no, here we go again"...and now Payton carries two and sometimes THREE kickers on the roster. Not to start a Hartley discussion, but just to show that this is what happens -- if something burns Payton badly, he goes out of his way to correct it. |

Re: Holder: Saints to tender Ivory
I think a big reason Ingrams performance hasn't been what we expected is because of the design of our offense.
Ingram goes to Atlanta he'd do well there. Easy to shine with a bunch of bums |
Re: Holder: Saints to tender Ivory
I keep telling people this. I am no expert, but I am convinced that we are not seeing the whole thing, as far as Payton's vision for Mark Ingram, or why he is here in this offense. I think Payton has something NEW in mind for this offense, that he has not gotten to implement yet because of the suspensions.
Ten games out of 16 in his rookie year, to work Ingram in. Injuries. Then look at his number of touches for last year, in order -- they go up dramatically after the Philly game, and his yardage goes up too, to almost respectable per game levels (60-90 yards). When Vitt was back? Planned all along? I don't know. That annoying play where Ingram comes in the game, they hand it off to him every time, then he runs into the back of his own lineman and falls forward three yards? I hated that play. That can't be what Sean Payton had in mind for him. It just can't. That's crazy. For whatever reason, Mark Ingram has not been integrated into the offense yet. I don't know if it's because of Carmichael, or because Payton wasn't here, or what -- I just think we have not really seen what he was brought here to do, in terms of the big picture of the offense. |
