Drew Brees is America’s QB

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is by far one of the most revered on-field and respected off-field men in the NFL. He has become the NFL’s symbol, and America’s honorary QB.

The title America’s team used to refer to the Dallas Cowboys in the 1970’s. The Cowboys’ QB during their heyday was Roger Staubach. Both Brees and Staubach possess a squeaky clean personal life, and are both talented to the point where you could never count them out of any game. You can definitely see the comparison between Staubach the Hall of Famer, and Brees the future Hall of Famer.

The Saints have had their share of controversy this past year. BountyGate had frustrated the faithful in New Orleans. Coach Sean Payton’s mandatory one year hiatus meant the Saints would not go marching in to the playoffs in 2012.

This year tested Brees as well as the Saints, ending with a 7-9 record, down dramatically from the 13-3 they posted in 2011. Yet Brees, like a calm wind, still threw for 5,177 and 43 TD. If Payton is the captain of the Saints ship, then Brees is the rudder by which it turns. With Brees on board, everything in New Orleans is heading true.

Brees off the field is a QB to follow. His family life is a model for America. The Brees Dream Foundation has been a tremendous charity. Its mission statement: “Improving the quality of life for cancer patients, and provide care, and education and opportunities for children and families in need.”

Brees is all class. He exemplifies what is good, decent, and right in the NFL, but more than that, he is a great role model for all men to follow with their families. That’s what makes him America’s QB.

I'll agree with that, Drew is going to go down as one of the all-time great professional athletes of any sport because of the way he handles his business on & off the field.
