Daniel Tweet on FA
@ChaseDaniel: Cant wait! RT @ProFootballTalk: Get ready to stay up late, because free agency essentially begins at midnight http://t.co/yvU6ZSVX8R

Re: Daniel Tweet on FA
Can't blame the guy for being excited, probably makes him feel good that some teams have noticed him and could give him a shot at starting
|
Pat Kerwin @ SiriusNFL: "not enough tape on Daniel for anyone to give him a tryout as a starter, but someone probably will anyway. The good backup QBs in the NFL make 3-5M and decent Starters make 5-7M... Doesn't think anyone is going to give him what he is looking for...... " Kerwin is usually spot on with his analysis.
I think Sean Payton is letting Chase test the market, knowing he will be a Saint again next year. Another 3 year back up contract could mean he would never get a starting contract. |
Re: Daniel Tweet on FA
All this Chase talk lately... I hope he goes somewhere and gets a good shot at being a starting QB. It seems like some people here approach the idea of Chase signing with another as "Screw him... Career back-up QB." I don't get that. Best of luck to you Chase... I hope you do what's best for you and your family and find success!

He did everything we ever asked of him. I hope he becomes a solid starter somewhere else. |

I don't see Chase becoming a "solid starter" anywhere.

Teams that can use him NOW!
1. Arizona 2. Dallas 3. Cleveland 4. Philly 5. San Diego (yes he can beat out Rivers) 6. Oakland (yes he can beat out Palmer) 7. Jacksonville |
Re: Daniel Tweet on FA
How many times has he been out there with the starters...seldom. And how did he do? Better than ok from what I've seen. Playing with starters, more reps, I have no doubt he could get it done.

Re: Daniel Tweet on FA
Of course he's no Brees, but if you watch him in preseason, they will often run plays in the 2nd quarter where it is Chase and there will be a mix of 1's and 2's in the game, but then ONE solid 1st string guy out there (Jimmy Graham, or Pierre, or Sproles type guys). And they will run a play to THAT GUY, the screen, toss, handoff, a flat or an out route, and sometimes they will put a 1st string lineman or blocker on that side of the play. Yeah he's no Brees but Chase actually looks pretty darn serviceable on THOSE particular plays. It's only when it all goes down to a roster of 2's out there that he starts to look like he's a not-ready-for-prime-time player.
A lot of his UN-successful play in pre-season comes from things like, 3rd down passes with nobody but "David Thomas" as his star receiver, there was a lot of young guys catching their passes short of the first down sticks instead of just past it, or Chase gets put in bad down-and-distance situations caused by unsuccessful running plays. |

Re: Daniel Tweet on FA
Payton hasn't let any one get film on Daniels doing anything besides handing off the ball. Sean learned from Parcells...........don't tell anyone anything! Besides, Drew believes his back up should never see the field.
