While everyone is definitely free to throw any name they feel like it to have a discussion. It may help further the discussion if that player is better than what we presently have. I see a lot of names being thrown up that would be a reduction in talent from our present roster.
While I do not mind digging up stats on proposed players, in fact I actually enjoy it. However, throwing someones name up in a new thread that is no where near a talent replacement for our worst player at that position is time consuming, and time is something i would rather spend on someone who could better the team. Before you throw a name up, google his name and stats, and post that so members have something to read or give an opinion on other than. "Joe Smith is available... what do ya think"... if you have enough band width to see someone has become a free agent, you have enough bandwidth to see if he is worth your time starting a thread on. B&G prides it self on the quality of information it puts out and being the first source of news for a great many of our members. Black and Gold is only as good as the quality of your threads. ![]() |

Re: Free Agency Prospects
Also, in my opinion we could try and use the already existing long FA and draft threads by JP when proposing new alternatives to each of them - that way we won't have a million threads all about single players.
Maybe make those two threads stickies for the time being, so that they are conveniently positioned at the top for all to click. "Braking News" things are different of course, but just for the common talk about the prospects. |

At the end of the day... Some people want to start their own thread regardless. Actually I do have a solution... I am going to move them all to the NFL area. If they were not Saints last year they do not belong here. |

In fact, I really like when we have max participation and other people make solution suggestions; I give credit to Hagan who got me thinking that way in this discussion community... But to the earlier point, I think the reason, and I've gone back and forth with Hagan on this, that some have offered up less than ideal candidates is because we are probably better informed fans than most and recognize the Front Office has left the team with little cap room this season and fewer picks in the allotment of draft schedule (while the 2nd this year was a result of the Commish Beatdown, which was for lack of institutional control) and so we recognize the reality of the situation and are offering solutions to the quandry... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

I had a detailed sticky on the process for teams to make the playoffs. And tie breakers... Below it were a barrage of "how is a tie broken between us and team x"... |

Re: Free Agency Prospects
Personally I like starting new threads. It is something I read somewhere or just thought of and would like to discuss. I agree that the what about player X threads are tedious.especially when it is someone who we have very little chance of signing.
