Evidence the Saints are wanting to Upgrade the Defense in FA
The Saints don't normally dive into a first-tier free agent, and that wasn't the main plan when free agency opened Tuesday. They made an exception, though, with former Ravens and current Browns linebacker Paul Kruger.
New Orleans pushed hard for Kruger, according to a source familiar with the talks, so much so that the final two teams in the race were the Saints and the Browns. Cleveland's price was higher than where the Saints were willing to go, so Kruger ended up with the Browns. The Saints would have likely had to chop some salaries to make the Kruger deal happen, but it at least shows the Saints are serious in trying to upgrade on defense. And we see that that position is the most glaring need. Or was Kruger that important?

Glad we didn't overspend for Kruger... I have a lot of faith in Wilson and JR to take care of the OLB positions, we just need some depth.

He would have been good to have here..................but that's a moot point now!
Still, he would have been a serious impact player for our defense. |
