Putting defensive pieces in place
A lot of sports writers said the same thing when Carl Nicks left for more money and went to Tampa Bay. The Saints signed Ben Grubbs and it was business as usual. I believe the Saints will do the same with Bushrod; the Saints will have a back-up plan if Charles Brown doesn't work out.
********************************************************* The 2013 season started last week, and the New Orleans Saints started to take steps to try and rebuild a struggling defense. But a major development occurred on the offensive side of the ball as the Saints lost one of the top left tackles in the NFC. Losing offensive tackle Jermon Bushrod in free agency hurts, and there is no debate on this issue. Bushrod was good at protecting Drew Brees' blind side, and he also was a major factor in the running game. Everyone knew that if the Saints couldn't sign Bushrod that the Chicago Bears would make the big money play for him. The Bears did just that less than 24 hours into the process and signed the two-time Pro Bowler to a five-year deal worth $35.9 million. It was a money status the Saints were not going to enter, and it is a calculated gamble. Brees' quick release and his instant recognition ability has aided Bushrod's efforts, but don't underestimate his skills as a left tackle. Putting defensive pieces in place | HoumaToday.com |

Re: Putting defensive pieces in place
The biggest positive that we have for this defense is Sean Paytons critical eye and last years note books full of observations.

Re: Putting defensive pieces in place
Payton is back. Spags is gone. That should be worth atleast 3 wins right there.

Okay so far -
Signed back most of the D line and LB'rs. Obviously felt the need to improve CB. Got our veteran TE. Questions still: DE, DT, SS OT, QB, WR We're seeing potential draft scenarios unfold. I like it |
Re: Putting defensive pieces in place
In Loomis and Payton I trust.
