Chris Ivory Has Last Chance to Stay Healthy With New Orleans Saints
Chris Ivory is one of the strongest runners in the NFL, but the New Orleans Saints running back has to stay off of the disabled list in 2013. In a shocking turn of events the Saints placed a second-round tender on Ivory, who played in just six games with the team last season. With that signing the Saints now have four running backs under contract for the 2013 season.
It was a complete mess for the entire organization last year, so the absolute chaos at running back shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Here is a team that let LT Jermon Bushrod leave to the Chicago Bears, but insists on keeping injury-prone backs like Ivory on the team. Since coming into the league in 2010 Ivory has played in a total of 24 games — yes, he has missed one game for every NFL game that he has played in. Whether I like the move or not is no longer important as the Saints have committed to Ivory for at least one more season. Although there is a total log-jam at this position, if Ivory plays better than Pierre Thomas and Mark Ingram he still could make some money in the 2014 NFL offseason. At the end of the year, I expect Ingram to be the full-time running back once again as he rushed for 602 yards in 16 games this past season. I would have a different tune if Ivory could stay healthy, but at 25-years-old he hasn’t found a way to stay on the field. Some may overlook the Saints’ running game because of Drew Brees, but when the running game was effective, so were the Saints. Read more at http://www.rantsports.com/nfl/2013/0...FceZwtzAvhR.99 |

I still think its 50/50 he's even on our roster this year.

With the new bullcrap running back rule does Chris Ivory lose a little bit of his value?

I think being constantly injured with fumbling problems and poor pass protection reduce his value the most. |

He needs to stay healthy. But his biggest problem is there are three other backs ahead of him on the depth chart... they are all pretty good as well.

LETS GO IVORY !

Re: Chris Ivory Has Last Chance to Stay Healthy With New Orleans Saints
I love Ivory but we have too much invested at this position. We need to keep Sproles for his versatility and returns. We need two of Thomas, Ivory or Ingram and Cadet makes good depth. One RB needs to be used for more necessary assets.

bait the hook. Ivory or Ingram...... trade one for more d, or a LT

Re: Chris Ivory Has Last Chance to Stay Healthy With New Orleans Saints
he's not a starter type, but does well with us in spot type duty. To someone's point about him being on the team don't we have 5 rb's? pt, mi, ci, ds, and that kid with the dreads that looks like he'll be pretty good maybe.

Re: Chris Ivory Has Last Chance to Stay Healthy With New Orleans Saints
Ivory has been injured and is in a crowded back field. It's hard to get carries like that. I believe that he is trade bait now.

As a certain Mr Patrick Sean Payton said about another player Charles Brown:

A reminder of why we love Ivory. I would take him over Ingram.... Even if it is just to do this to Atlanta twice a year.

I don't think anyone knows what the new rule is going to do to the value of running backs since they haven't even played a single down under the new rule yet.

RBs will be devalued. One could argue that the recent rules protecting QBs and Receivers has increased their value. |

I used to love playing flag football at Trinity School. No real blocking, no tackling, lots of standing around, admiring the girls on the sideline.
About time the NFL went nostalgic for middle school. |
Re: Chris Ivory Has Last Chance to Stay Healthy With New Orleans Saints
While he has been injured, last year's lack of playing time seemed to be about more than health. Clearly, Payton wants him on the team.
