1. Go back in the time machine, you'll see I outlined exactly how Ingram was utilized last season and it was extremely predictable what and where was going down when he entered the game. I brought that up and identified it.
2. Where does 2.6 YPC come from? Every game he was in until Ivory was put in.. Apparently Ivory makes Ingram run better. 3. Needs more carries to have a better YPC is BS. If productivity is a direct result of having to have more carries and rhythm then we should gain crapola on the ground the first 1/2.... Correct? Another reason I don't but this need more.... Need rhythm crapola is because PT doesn't need it, Sproles doesn't need it, Ivory doesn't need it. Some of you seem to think I don't care for Ingram... Not true at all. I'm just. It going to make excuses for him parking in a Tackles ass. |
Re: Mark Ingram Needs More Carries
Needs a couple more per game. we have way too many weapons to make him a workhorse like many teams would use him. The power of our offense is the unpredictability for the defense on every play. They have to plan for every thing and hope for the best.

Why do we care if Ingram gets more touches? To be honest, I didn't really know how to comment on this, because I find a flaw in any argument that's purpose if to give more carries to Mark Ingram just because. Truth is, he has done nothing special for this team. AND news flash… he got the most carries of any back last year. WHY? Ingram - Career 3.9 ypg PT - Career 4.8 ypg Is Ingram better than Pierre or Sproles in the passing game? Not even close. But yet people keep wanting to believe this guy is about to "get it." Sorry, I am done waiting. I did it with Adrian Arrington and Robert Meachem and don't have the time to do it for this guy. He's average... at best. I hope I am wrong. Because that means the Saints will have one of the best RBs in the game. I hope I am very wrong. But, who really cares? What are we really arguing for? One stud? Why? Between the 4 we have a lethal rush/pass attack… Combined the 4 RB’s ran for 1536 yards…and caught 122 balls and accounted for 17 TDs. The Vikings RBs ran for a combined 2266, caught 60 balls and scored 15 TDs. Their offense 20th in the league, ours 2nd. They just didn't have the worst defense ever... So I ask again, why does it have to be one guy? |

It is however, time to trade Ingram while he still has value and it is time to give Ivory more carries because he IS the best true running back the Saints have. |
Re: Mark Ingram Needs More Carries
How often was Ingram a part of the passing game back in school?

Ivory and PT need more touches that Ingram. You earn touches and deserve them don't get them because you need practice.

Re: Mark Ingram Needs More Carries
It's been said before but I agree that plays for Ingram are too predictable. When Pierre or Darren line up in the backfield, it might be a rush up the middle, around the end, a sweep, a screen or Drew might play action and throw it down field. When Ingram lines up in the backfield the only question is will he run off guard or off tackle...
Or at least that the way it seems to me. Just my opinion but I don't think there's a problem. Even in a bad year like they had last season, as a unit, they averaged 4.3 yards per carry, it could be better but it's definitely not shabby for a team built around the pass. I think they'll work Ingram into more aspects of the game as time goes on but they were without their head coach last season and he has to share the backfield with 3 other great running backs. |
Re: Mark Ingram Needs More Carries
Everybody runs behind the same O-line...so that o-line theory is kind out the window and Everybody in the world knows when Ivory is in we're going to run but he still seems to avg. 4-5 yac...My theory is Ingram has bad ballcarrier vision
