Then why would we be interested in him.

Re: Vaughn Martin DL
Just wondering how Hicks graded? Sure Hicks is only going into his 2nd year, but you have to keep in mind that both of them came from Canadian Universities, and therefore the level of coaching is quite inferior. (Hence the reason I brought up the Hicks comparison).
Martin is a guy with a pretty good upside and may be able to come cheaper. I would imagine that his poor grades are because he was thrown into a starting role due to injury, where he is probably at the point in his career where his talent level would be more akin to a situational player. I think he may be worth a look for the right price. |

He was 6-4, 330 when drafted. SD wanted him to drop weight and play DE, and he got down to 297 lbs. |

We need to address DT and this may be one of the FO head scratchers that work out. Let him put some weight back on and get back to his natural position. He may want to move back there where he was drafted. With time who knows? The kid could be a good rotational player. And the usual blah blahs still apply............like if they sign him to league minimum and a one year contract.;) |
