Nice pickup in New Orleans: Saints plan to sign Cowboys LB Victor Butler. |
Re: Victor Butler No Contract signed: Saints Browns Eagles
I like that,if true.
We could try and trade with somebody like Miami,Bengals,49ers and swap our 15th for both seconds they all have.I know people say the 49ers would not trade with us but if there is a players they want they would do the deal. |
Saints to sign Victor Butler
Victor Butler - LB - Cowboys
NEWS: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Saints "plan" to sign free agent OLB Victor Butler. ANALYSIS: Schefter didn't report a deal is done, but it'd be a nice pickup for New Orleans as Rob Ryan installs a 3-4 defense. The Saints are needy at outside-rush 'backer and Butler spent the last four seasons backing up DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer in Dallas. Still only 25 years old, Butler has flashed big-time pass-rush ability in past spot play. He is also a plus special teamer. ~Reported and Sent from the NEW Rotoworld Fantasy News |

Re: Saints to sign Victor Butler
Victor Butler chooses the Saints
Posted by Darin Gantt on March 28, 2013, 12:39 PM EDT APThe Victor Across America Tour has ended, as Cowboys outside linebacker Victor Butler has chosen a team. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Butler ended his free agent tour by picking the Saints. Butler had also visited the Steelers, Browns and Eagles, but chose to reunite with Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. Butler was an effective sub, with 11.0 sacks in four seasons, but he was stuck behind DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer in Dallas. The Saints can offer him more play-time, as they’re desperately looking for pass-rush help as they transition to a 3-4. Having Butler around should help Ryan install his system as well. Right now lets trade with one of the teams with 2 second round picks and trade right down.Pick up Jones/Watson/Fluker and a D-lineman like Hunt.

Re: Saints come to terms with Victor Butler(pg.5 update)
Anyone else surprised it's only a 2 year deal?
This was a smart move by him. He didn't get the money he was looking for(in my opinion) so he took a 2 year deal to prove himself and hit the market in his prime. Great opportunity for him here to do so and I hope he capitalizes. Talk about flat market... it's done us some favors with our cap space. |
Re: Saints come to terms with Victor Butler(pg.5 update)
Good signing!! Hopefully he can start his break-out here in N.O., still would like to see Harrison!!

Re: Saints come to terms with Victor Butler(pg.5 update)
Saints signed OLB Victor Butler to a two-year contract.
Butler, 25, has 11 career sacks and four forced fumbles across four seasons, though he's only played 803 career snaps, per Pro Football Focus. The typical starting 3-4 rush linebacker plays 900-1,000 snaps. While Butler is considered a weak run defender, he has edge speed the Saints desperately need. He also played for new New Orleans defensive coordinator Rob Ryan in Dallas last year. Butler will compete for a starting job with Junior Galette, Will Smith, Martez Wilson, and whomever the Saints add in April's draft. We like Butler's chances of at least earning a significant role in sub-packages -- all-out pass-rush downs. Source: Nakia Hogan on Twitter Very interesting stat. |

Re: Saints come to terms with Victor Butler(pg.5 update)
I think we are all feeling pretty good about this. It looks as If they were able to get Butler on their financial terms. Can't wait to see what the contract is officially. Now does that switch their draft focus? The left tackle position still needs to be answered. Although, I would not mind seeing if Brown can play a full season. The defensive line could also use some attention, and safety as well.
Very good day in Who Dat nation. |

I would be shocked if Smith was competing for an outside linebacker spot. After all the years of playing with the hand on the ground, this is a lot to ask an aging veteran at this point in his career. For shame Mr. Hogan... for shame. |
