Angry Rant ( Free Agency Edition )
Okay so maybe I don't fully comprehend how much we are able to do with Brees contract hogging up much needed cap space but COME ON !!!
The Falcons have reloaded with some dangerous additions to a team that was already 13 -3 The Bucs are retooling after a near miss on the post season Cams got some help after a near miss on the post season What are we waiting for ? Charles Woodson , James Harrison , Nnamdi , somebody !!! We can't just keep turning our smug noses up at players were getting smoked on free agency even worse in our own division which was hard enough to win ... If nothing comes of free agency We better be grabbing some dynamic players like Tyrann or someone that can tackle |
Re: Angry Rant ( Free Agency Edition )
Your way off base. I do not quite understand your need for the Saints to just go out and sign "somebody". Those teams are playing catch up.. Something we do not need to do. Furthermore this seasons cap issues are not solely on Drew, Drews production vs $ far exceeds the production from Smith/harper/
Free agency is not a competition. |
Re: Angry Rant ( Free Agency Edition )
With only 3 million in cap space, you don't go out and just start signing people. We have to be smart about it and not over-pay; ie. Nnamdi... He either signs or the 49ers over-pay for his services
We do not have the cap space to fight bidding wars  |

Re: Angry Rant ( Free Agency Edition )
We replaced our Defensive Coordinator and DB coach
We're switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4, which fits our personnel better We signed the top CB in free agency Our top players on defense are all young and ascending We're getting our Head Coach back We stockpiled a lot of young talent last year by stashing many on IR We restructured a lot of players in order to upgrade elsewhere We're still looking at CB/OT/LB. Its also only the 3rd week of free agency. The leverage is now swinging away from free agents and toward teams. Good role players will come a lot cheaper over the next few months. |
Re: Angry Rant ( Free Agency Edition )
I'll say it again, remember to breathe. There's hours left before the season starts.

Re: Angry Rant ( Free Agency Edition )
I'm not worried about winning free agency...
Look what happened to the Eagles |

Re: Angry Rant ( Free Agency Edition )
On the D side of the ball we will see a huge improvement with much of the same people in a 3-4 scheme...I think the only real issue we have right now is finding a LT..whether free agency or trying to risk it in the draft

Re: Angry Rant ( Free Agency Edition )
The Saints have faired much better staying away from high/mid dollar FAs.
I would even say signing those kinds of players says you don't have a lot of faith in your staff. We almost made the playoffs, we had a shot even with the worst defense the NFL has seen in a long time. We'll be fine. |
Re: Angry Rant ( Free Agency Edition )
ive presented this same argument...but keenen lewis was a good pick up hopefully. Anything else from here on out is lagniappe. But brees contract is going to be the elephant in the room for the next few years.

Checked the cap figures lately? Mickey Loomis is trying to retool this d fense, and upgrade our OL, especially the LT position literally with pennies, nickels and dimes.....and was still right there on Kruger, Nnamdi's still deciding, and Victor Butler will be back cause he has no where else to go. Patience is often underrated in situations like this, thank our lucky stars that the people the Bensons put in leadership have it in spades...... #who dat!!!! |
Re: Angry Rant ( Free Agency Edition )
Are we making an effort to address our needs is all I'm concerned about. Anyone can be a paper champ.

Re: Angry Rant ( Free Agency Edition )
We are bringing in the players that will help this team.......unfortunately we can't force them to choose New Orleans.
Butler just signed a two year contract. Feel better? |

Re: Angry Rant ( Free Agency Edition )
Super bowl teams are built through the draft not through FA's.
The Falcons did better? How? The best thing to happen to them is Gonzalez returning. Osi is no better than Abraham. Jackson has more miles on him than Turner did. They resigned some key players but they are a wash to me. Scam Newton will never lead that Carolina team anywhere. He's a "me first" player and not a leader. They've added some pieces but they still aren't contenders. Bucs are still a mediocre team. They'll contend for a playoff spot at best again. Freeman is on a make or break year. He doesn't progress and Tampa will be looking for a new QB next year which may set them back again. As already shown by others, we have done as much or more than anyone in our division to be better than last year. |
Re: Angry Rant ( Free Agency Edition )
Are we the only decent team the Clowns play again this season? Gonzales is the only thing they've got going for them. Sign someone that'll cover his ass and they won't even get out of the tunnel.
