They should have given it to Gonzalez. He's never going to a SB or be a part of a winning NFC championship team. Would have been a nice tribute.

Brees was an absolute pick machine that year! I don't think he escaped anything!

We need every player on the roster in the NFC with the exception of the Saints on a huge montage on the front cover of Madden! :)

No sir... The madden curse is a decline in performance due to injury.

In 2012 Drew played in all 16 games and after throwing for a career high 4,620 yards, Brees led the defending champion Saints back into the playoffs as a wildcard team, and made the Pro Bowl.

I hardly call that a curse.

I recall him having a knee injury that year but he didn't miss any games. There was a lot of speculation that his injury led to many picks.

Still, I don't believe in curses. Especially curses linked to video games.

What curse? I e-mailed a buddy of mine who moved up there a few years ago asking him to explain it to me, but he hasn't responded to my e-mails or phone calls. Whats up with that?

Tore his ACL in week 3 and went on to throw 22 picks, The curse got drew.....badly

Of course any player who appears on the cover and does not win a championship could be considered a victim of the "curse".

Never heard of it and I lived there for a bit in 1993. It was rough but I left there feeling anything but cursed.

The Curse of Gnome????


When Private Eye has been excoriated by someone and that same person heads for a fall they call it the 'Curse of Gnome'. It's a form of gloating. I'm not a gloater, but really some people need to get their act together. The Independent Network being one such organisation.

On February 18th I posted the list of candidates endorsed at the last general election by the Independent Network. It included one Fred Wildgust. I pointed out the fact that Fred's blog/website was, frankly, out of order with its attacks on people using language and imagery that most reasonable people would baulk at. Fred responded by telling me to keep my nose out of his campaign.

Brees was picked off 22 times that year, and ironically, it was our top-8 defense that year that bailed us on many occasions. Also, we were stunned to lose to the feckless Seahacks in the wildcard round that year.

I wouldn't call that escaping.
