Saints show intrest in NT Kawann Short
According to Gil Brandt, the Saints sent five defensive line coaches as well as Director of College Scouting Rick Reiprish to attend a private workout by Purdue's Kawann Short, scheduled because of his recent hamstring injury.
The injury kept Short from performing at the NFL Scouting Combine as well as Purdue's Pro Day that was held on March 1st. Nineteen other NFL teams were present at the workout as well. Kawann Short #93 / Defensive Tackle / Purdue Boilermakers Height: 6-3 Weight: 315 Year: senior Along with drills, Short participated in Combine style workouts. At 6'3" 303 pounds, Short ran his 40-yard dash in 5.08 and 5.09 seconds. He also had a 27-inch vertical, 8'4" broad jump, and 29 reps of 225 pounds. Short got some major attention after the 2013 Senior Bowl where he was named the North's top player after having three tackles with one for a loss. During his college career at Purdue, Short had 186 tackles, 49 tackles for a loss, 19.5 sacks, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles. He also deflected 17 passes along the defensive line. If the Saints are interested in Short they may have to strike early. As the weeks roll closer toward the 2013 NFL Draft he is being talked up as a possible first round talent. Re: Saints show intrest in NT Kawann Short
I'm glad there listing him as a NT now.... He's very good. Has good leverage, and get off. Dominated the interior at the senior bowl.... Love him, or Brandon Williams for the NT position.
Not at #15 though!!! |

Re: Saints show intrest in NT Kawann Short
not bad not bad at all. nice pro day
Thing i like about him is there is still room for him to bulk up. he is a bit top heavy. Of the top 10 DT in the draft he is the one that still could get much better with simple professional workout program. so in two or three years he could develop into one of the best DT in the draft. His upside with little risk. He might be a player that shocks on day one of the draft. at 15? mmmmm trade down to 20's? i could live with it i hate the media talking Defense you gotta know He ran the three-cone drill in 7.55 seconds (7) had the short shuttle in 4.65 seconds (6) i really want to see his 10 yard split It looks to be a good year at NT/DT *Johnathan Hankins Jesse Williams Brandon Williams Montori Hughes Kwame Geathers T.J. Barnes Josh Boyd just to name a few so i really have troubles seeing the saints going DT at 15 |
