In a surprise move the Saints traded their first round pick for the first pick in the second round. In the second round, the Saints chose Roger Goddell! This proved to be a master stroke by the team. Goddell has been known throughout the league as being biased and also in reactively making instant, sometimes damaging decisions without thinking them through. Seconds after donning the Black and Gold for the first time, Roger awarded the Saints compensatory picks in the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh rounds as well as suspending the team's 2013 cap limit.
