Should the Saints get competition for Hartley?
 

Hartley is good enough, probably. But has he shaken your confidence just a tad? If so, what are the options?

I found a couple of nobodies, just for grins, in light of the salary cap.

EVer since we won the Superbowl, every time he steps up I have my heart in my mouth. He has a hooking issue. The thing is it can go away and seem like it is never coming back and then just like that BOOM and he's launching one into the Corner Terrace.

You can pick up some very interesting kickers as UFA's and there are more and more 'YouTube sensations' turning up. Why not invite them in? See what they have.

Definitley needs competition, every position does or the player will not push themselves and get complacent

Yea, I Would go as far as saying Hartley has got to go. Problem is I dont know if anyone else better.

Hartley is garbage and Kasay is only a little better. We need a real kicker.

Jason Hanson, K, Lions is out there also. dome kicker that can still handle the out doors. which maybe key in the playoffs. hit nearly 90 percent of his field goals with a couple from 50-plus.

He's long in the tooth, but Jason Hanson is the bomb. Although veteran minimum for him would probably be larger than the minimum for others, since he has been in the league since 1956 or something. Still I would love to see what he could do.

And there is no conceivable kicking situation that Hanson has not seen before, which I sometimes feel is part of Hartley's problem -- like the ridiculous injury on grass in Oakland, or the one where Hartley gets iced by a timeout and makes it, then missing the second identical attempt, or the overtime FG against the Falcons. It just seems to me sometimes like a lot of Hartley's unpredictability is the kind that comes from "learning on the job" when he is stuck in a new or unfamiliar situation or when he makes "head case kicker" mental mistakes.

Hartley missed an easy field goal against the Chiefs which derailed that game, and our season. I wanted Hartley gone before last season he is just awful.

Yes. Either of them would be fun to have in camp. Any type of competition would be good
