Anybody have any thoughts on Baccari Rambo

I really liked him at Georgia! Georgia played an attacking 3-4 Defense and he played very well against the run and pass in the SEC.

I watched a couple of the georgia games this year and I like Rambo......if for no other reason than for good conversation.

But to answer your post, I think he would be a good late round pick up if he is still on the board, but he isn't really tall enough to convert to CB, and we have more pressing needs at DE and LB to take him any earlier than like the 5th or 6th round, and I have seen some draft boards with him going in the second or third.

Rookie mistake

Isn't Rambo projected as a third round pick? If we had or get a 2nd round I can see taking him in the third. We have more pressing needs for our 1st/3rd round selections, mainly O-Line & LB. That's the way I see it anyway...

+1. Yeah, pretty solid in 2012 and I love his ballhawking ability.. something we desperately need in the secondary.

I was really thinking Rambo would be valuable if we didn't get Vacarro in the first round. I watched the kid make plays all over the field. Besides I can't resist the feeling that SP is gonna make a move on Austin in the first round.

STRENGTHS: Looks the part. Has a well-developed, evenly proportioned frame well suited to the position.

Intuitive defender who reads the quarterback's eyes well and gets a jump on the ball in coverage. Shows good burst to the ball due to above average acceleration and straight-line speed. Times his leaps/contact with receivers nicely, showing good body control and hand-eye coordination to play physically without drawing the flag.

Locates the ball and has very good ball skills. Possesses soft hands to pluck the ball away from this frame as well as the ability to track it over his shoulder.

Highly aggressive tackler. Looks to lower the boom on unsuspecting receivers crossing the middle. Lowers his shoulder into ball-carriers, though he sees what he's hitting, not lowering his head and spearing the opponent and drawing the flag.

Generally takes good angles to the ball and plays a key role in Georgia's defense as the last line of defense. Made Georgia's secondary calls for at least the last two seasons. Played free safety at Georgia but possesses the size and physicality to play either of the traditional safety roles in the NFL.

WEAKNESSES: Has a tendency to lead with his shoulder rather than wrapping up fully as a tackler, leading to some slip-ups. Generally gauges pursuit angles well but can get caught up in the trash when he gets too aggressive, leading to some cut-back opportunities for backs with vision, burst to exploit.

Does not possess the elite recovery speed that his 16 career interceptions might indicate and is, in fact, a bit of a gambler.

Has twice failed drug tests while at Georgia and was suspended for the first four games of the 2012 season due to his most recent violation.

COMPARES TO: Dashon Goldson, FS, San Francisco 49ers: Like the 49ers' standout free safety, Rambo has a tendency to make splashy plays as a pass thief and intimidating hitter but is prone to an occasional breakdown. If he can tighten up his game (and his off-field decision-making) Rambo has the talent to earn Pro Bowl consideration, just as Goldson has done for the 49ers.

I like what I'm reading for the most part. The drug issues will keep us from drfating him tho.

We desperately need a play maker in the secondary. I didn't know about the off the field issues..........well, to that extent. Thanks for sharing Danno!

Payton may shy away from this kid. I don't know if the FO interviewed him or not. I am pretty sure that they did their home work and sent their investigators in if they had enough interest.

Rambo and Smoky Badger could have a lot of fun rooming together.

it all depends on personal interviews for him. off field issues are the only reason they are talking about him in the 3rd. he is much better than a 3rd

If Payton's smart, which we all know he is.... he'll hold Tavon Austin over Minnesota's head like evidence at a crime scene and they give us 23, and 25 as compensation for getting Austin. This is as long as nobody breaks form and tries to get him before #15

Rambo is a steal if he is still there in the third or fourth... Vaccaro is blah!!!! He's does everything well, and nothing great I wouldn't be mad if they used #15 on Vaccaro, but I would feel they could have easily dropped and gotten more....

Not really a statement about drugs in our world. It's just these guys screw themselves and our team by doing them, knowing they're gonna be tested and end up being suspended. Stupid is as stupid does and damn doesn't stupid deserve to be made fun of. Geez, ten times plus maybe for Smoky Badger? Can't afford to waste a draft pick regardless of the talent they may have if they're just sitting on the bench trying to figure out how to turn the Gatorade cooler into a bong.
