New Orleans Saints create backup QB battle between Luke McCown, Seneca Wallace

The New Orleans Saints created a position battle Monday. One they hope the winner never touches the field other than during preseason games, extra-point and field-goal attempts, garbage time in a blowout win or in Week 17 when the Saints have secured a playoff spot.

Veterans Luke McCown and Seneca Wallace appear they will be pitted against each other to compete for the backup quarterback job behind Drew Brees after Wallace signed with the Saints on Monday. This is only the second time since 2006 where the Saints will enter offseason workouts with a bona-fide backup quarterback battle.

He's had a game or two. Never had much of a coach to help him along. Who knows?

add a team to the list too. he has played for real stinkers. his skill set fits well with the team. much like drew short and mid range passing are his strong suit. question is how good can he grasp the playbook. that is hard for anyone not named drew or payton

Seneca has versatility in his favor as well. Holmgren used him as a wide receiver in Seattle some...

The stinkers were result of the coach. The only thing that ever made Berger Meister Meisterberger any good was Brett Farve -not vice versa.

I was looking at some of his stats going back, what time he did start, looks like he made the most of it.

one stat that stands out about the QB is he has never had a season where he threw more Ints than TDs.
