Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
We interrupt the Revis story to bring you news on another potential trade. Albert Breer reports the Jets have offered the Saints a sixth round pick for Chris Ivory. (Hat tip to GGN member Bob_The_Friendly_Baker for pointing this out.)
Yup. And Jets offered a 6th. A fifth constitutes “meeting in the middle”. RT @rospitta @albertbreer saints want a 4th — Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) April 21, 2013 We will have to see how willing the Saints are to part with Ivory. They seem to be pretty deep in the backfield, and he doesn’t seem to figure prominently in their long term plans. There is a point, however, where an extra year of Ivory is going to be more valuable to them than a pick. The question is probably whether that is a fifth round pick. If the Revis trade goes through, the Jets will have a ton of picks. It will be easy for them to bump up their offer from a sixth rounder to a fifth rounder. Will the Saints bite? Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
No. We're only "Deep in the backfield" until someone goes down...
|
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
4th at a minimum or take a hike...
|
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
And if what is being reported is correct, the Jets only got one extra pick this year - the Bucs 1st rounder.
The conditional 3rd/4th is for 2014. |
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
Just looked and 13 to 15th is 100 points different, which equates to a high 4th rounder.
Maybe something like Bucs #13 for Saints #15 + Ivory - but I can't see doing that unless there is someone we are just drooling over that we think Tampa or Carolina is going to take from us... |

Star Lotuleilei?

actually smart move in my book. you can almost pencil in two defensive players off the board at 13 and 14. |
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
Dude screw that moving up two spots for Ivory unless it's Star or Lane Johnson still there at 13 but you can also stay at 15 for nothing and still probably get an impact player like Mingo but if some how an elite LT or Star falls to 13 but I doubt it plus we need more picks we don't need to trade pieces unless we can turn them into young cheaper prospects that can produce on the field! We need as many cheap players we can get and the only way to get quality players for cheap is through the new cba draft! Used to top 15 picks cost almost or more than equal veteran players but now you can really supplement your roster with cheap young talent that's hungry to get that big deal instead of having one when they come out of college! Now they have to earn it through play on the field so they are extra motivated! Plus this yrs draft is loaded with defensive talent exactly what we need! Whodat!

Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
Try offering a fourth and I might give in..........other wise call me draft day.
|
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
Why is everybody wanted to give up Ivory. I want a guy like him in our team I know he's been injured some but he is solid. I'd put Ingram on the trade block before his value decreases more. But if they do trade ivory I keep it at 2nd minimum.

He has battled injuries every year since he has been here, hamstrings mostly... |

Get that offer out of here. Try again New York

Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
Screw Mingo. I know he from LSU but he brings too many negatives.
|
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
Jets have upped it to a 5th (SB Nation)
hard to believe that's the best we'll get, but we can't afford a $2 million 4th stringer |
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
The Jets do not understand value..... Or lack of for that matter.

Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
I think a 5th is too low, but it depends on the coaches' plans for him.
If he is going to be a healthy scratch (inactive) half the season, what's the point in making him ride the pine and taking up the $ and roster spot. Let the dude go play elsewhere. I think it is a given he will not be here next year, so do we take SOMETHING before he's gone in return - even if we know it is NOT what he's potentially (when healthy) worth??? |
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
I think the 5th is fair considering his injury history and that Boldin left the Ravens for a 6th.Its a early 5th too.
|
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
I read that Marshawn Lynch was traded for a fourth.
Ivory is good, but he is no workhorse like Lynch, and almost certainly will not be as durable, so its hard to say he is currently worth a fourth. Nice highlight reel, but he has some 'clunkers' as well. I'm not saying I'm happy with a fifth, but I keep hearing that this is such a deep defensive draft, and that quality players will be available all the way to the fifth round. Also, if we net another pick through Ivory, it provides us with more picks to package should we indeed want to move up and grab a LT. There's a lot of ways this could go down, and I think Loomis is smart to sit on this and wait till the draft to see if someone out there is a little more desperate than they are letting on (Looking at you, Jerrah) |
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
All of our running backs are injury prone. Just like bro said, we're deep until somebody gets hurt. That's the whole reason we drafted Ingram. We lost Bell and Deuce and had injury prone RB's. We needed depth.
|
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
1. Thomas
2. Sproles 3. Ingram 4. Collins 5. Cadet 6. I like a 5th round for Ivory... wait a few more days ands Jets will offer a 4th |
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
It's apples to oranges if you want to talk Boldin for a 6th. Boldin's salary dump was the issue there, not his usefulness to the Ravens.
I am not happy with Ivory for a 5th and frankly not even a 4th. As rezburna mentioned, we obviously don't remember the playoffs against Seattle where we were playing Julius Jones at RB because our first 3-4 RB's were hurt. PT and Sproles are not typical 16 game workhorse backs. Ingram has been knicked up at times. We can make use of Ivory even if it is for 6 games a year. You know you will get 6 dynamite appearances out of him. Desperation will kick in for teams like the Jets and Dallas after the draft. I'd be happier moving Ivory for an earlier pick next year than a later one this year if it came to that. Give me a 3rd next year and I would be on board risking our depth. But more realistically, I can see Ivory being part of a package that perhaps allows us to move one of our later round picks into a 2nd or 3rd round position. |
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
we could always draft a rb later in the draft or bring in an UDFA.. I wouldn't mind Stefan Taylor if he drops or Michael Ford...

Well I don't see Ivory going anywhere Saints fans. Loomis isn't going to let him go for crack head deals.

NO 1 injury away so no!!

bottom line, he is a 4th stringer (who doesn't play ST) costing 2 million. We can't afford it under today's cap |
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
I can't see them giving up a 4th.I think they would go elsewhere or draft in the 4th and bring in somebody like Blount/Jacobs/Jones to play in rotation
|
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
Patience.... have some
Only fools are rushing in right now. Watch Ivory's value go up when someone loses a starter in camp or preseason, or when someones draft pick doesn't work... |
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
Hold out for a higher pick.. nothing much to lose, only more to gain.
|
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
What would you rather have a 4th this year from some teem that is looking right now, or a 2nd round pick next year from a team that lost a Rb in preseason and desperately needs someone to punch it in?
|
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
I will miss Ivory but Ingram needs to break out. |
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
A 6th round pick? What a joke. Running Backs are always getting injured so I'm more than happy to hold onto Ivory unless we're getting a 3rd rounder at worst.

Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
Saints should demand from the Jets what they paid for Vilma...
Saints sent a 2008 fourth round draft pick and a 2009 draft pick for a linebacker... Ivory is the best pure running back and he scores touchdowns... If Mickey Loomis gets anything less, he'll confirm he's the most overrated GM in football, living off the success of the Payton-Brees team... |
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
I wouldn't go lower than a 3rd.
He's that valuable to us. Even our 4th stringer is part of the gameplan. Any sprangs, pulls, twists and bruises among the group makes him even more valuable. If he gets 100 carries this season and racks up 450, his trade value sky rockets for next season. Anything less than a 3rd rounder, I would just keep him, and watch him punish some cover guys. |
Re: Jets Offered a Sixth Round Pick for Chris Ivory
I wouldn't be surprised to see him go, but we don't need to do that. Hold tight until we get a decent value for him. If we don't, let's run his ass off.
