It's gonna be Jarvis Jones
I'm putting it down for the record. You may all now stop posting your draft pics. Ha!
:) |
Re: It's gonna be Jarvis Jones
I hope not, but I won't cry about it. Just about anyone of the top guys we pick there is probably fine. Jones, Mingo, Star, Jordan, the OT's, Austin, Vacarro, Richardson etc...
I'm much more interested in rounds 2 thru 7. Here's a shocker, don't be surprised if TE Tyler Elfert's name is called when we pick. |
Re: It's gonna be Jarvis Jones
I think it will Jarvis too. Unless Mingo falls to us.

Re: It's gonna be Jarvis Jones
What's your thoughts with that one Danno. Steps in and replaces Graham after next season with him needing a big deal,or as a 1-2 punch?
|
Re: It's gonna be Jarvis Jones
If our doctors have cleared Jones I'm good with that.Too be honest it will be hard to draft a complete bust this year

If our highest rated DE/DT/OLB's are gone, I could see this happening, but probably only if we trade down and pick up a 2nd rounder. |
Re: It's gonna be Jarvis Jones
Payton has a way of makig people think one direction and go the other so it would not surprise me because he tends to look eay down the road in advance. I am just praying that somehow we address the SAFETY position. I have lost all confidence in Harper and I can't stand to see him trying to cover at all no nose for the football and no anticipation, no ball skills. Jenkins not much better. I know that a pass rush helps the secondary but even with that Harper can't cover anyone or catch the ball if he does get a break or just a mistake throw to Him. I hope viccarro happens to be there if not take one in the later rounds.

Re: It's gonna be Jarvis Jones
I just have this gut feeling the Saints are going to trade down.
|
Re: It's gonna be Jarvis Jones
NFL.com has us drafting a nose tackle. I just don't see it when we really need good LBs for this scheme. Next guy on the list is JJ. I can't see us passing him up when the steelers want him as a replacement for Harrison.
If we do trade down it probably would be with the steelers. |
Re: It's gonna be Jarvis Jones
I could see it. If we do go BPA and get an offensive weapon I would like to see us pick Tayvon Austin and let Drew host a track meet.
|
Re: It's gonna be Jarvis Jones
I could live with that.

As could I, but I would rather seem them trade down to gain more picks - if not for any other reason than for us to have more rookies to discuss after the draft. :-) |
Re: It's gonna be Jarvis Jones
It will be Jarvis Jones unless it's not.
Not factors include : another team takes him, we take another player, he dies, Jarvis wins Powerball, Goodell takes the pick away. |

How about shocking everyone Jonathan Cooper OG/OC Reid Fragel, OT/TE, Ohio State Chris Faulk, OT, LSU Aaron Mellette WR Elon Marcus Davis, WR, Virginia Tech now that would floor NFC South and make Mels hair stand on end |

We've got Coleman who will help some but we still need a presence in the middle. We must get pressure on the QB and we must get in the back field more often. |
Re: It's gonna be Jarvis Jones
Hicks is our man for NT.

The good news is we can probably do well with just another decent space eating DT, which isn't too costly and can be drafted in the mid rounds. Its the space eaters that can also pass rush that cost big money. We can rotate Bunkley and another hog on early downs, and move Hicks inside on pass rush downs. The sky is the limit for Hicks. |
Re: It's gonna be Jarvis Jones
If our choices are limited and we arent high on the guys that are left, I wouldnt be suprised to see us try and trade back to get a second rounder

Just like Danno I do believe Hicks is better suited to being a DE in a 3-4. I think that with his body type he could become a DE in the way of Haloti Ngata became this past season for the Ravens. Then you could rotate him to the interior for obvious passing downs while positioning him by default on the other side opposite to Jordan. I just think that Hicks doesn't have the body type to be an effective 0-gap or 1-gap NT because I don't think he can create enough leverage against most centers who tend to have lower centers of gravity - that's where someone like Bunkley will shine the brightest. But the Saints can definitely pick up a space eating NT to rotate with Bunkley with a lower round pick, and they do need to add depth to that position whether it be through the draft, veteran free agents or the UDFA pool. |
Re: It's gonna be Jarvis Jones
I prefer Jarvis to Mingo & I don't like Jarvis

I see teams valuing him above Cordarelle. I don't value him that high. I do see teams doing crazy things every year on draft day. I say the Jets pick him. QB sucks but we paid him tons of money? Give him an "easy" target. |

About Eifert per cbssports.com: Quote:
That sounds almost exactly like someone already wearing the black & gold, so I guess a team picking him couldn't go too wrong. Also, there seems to be a quite a big dropoff in the TE talent pool after Eifert - only Ertz and Kelce might be among the TEs taken in the first two rounds and even Kelce is bit of an uncertain commodity not having participated in the combine. Escobar and Reed are pretty much the only other TEs I've seen listed as potential 2nd rounders, but unlikely ones in any case. |
