LSU cornerback Tharold Simon was arrested in Eunice, La., Thursday night on multiple charges, including intimidating a police officer.

Simon, an NFL draft prospect, was charged with public intimidation, resisting an officer, and unnecessary noise violation. He was then released on a bond.

Lafayette's KATC TV3 reported that Simon's car was blocking a street when an officer asked him to move it. He told the officer, "I own Eunice," and "I'm gonna buy these projects and you are gonna be mine," before finally moving his car, according to the police report.

Simon reportedly spun his wheels, "backed the vehicle in an aggressive manner" and turned his radio "all the way up" while moving his car.

He then reportedly told the officer "the mayor was on (his) side" and the officer would be fired if he wrote him a ticket.

Simon, a graduate of Eunice (La.) High School, is scheduled to be honored by the city during a ceremony Friday night.

Despite the arrest, Eunice Mayor Rusty Moody said "Tharold Simon Day" festivities will go as planned.

"In the United States, our justice system says everyone is innocent until proven guilty," Moody said.

Simon is expected to be picked in the middle rounds of the NFL draft this weekend

Instead of being drafted Thursday night, LSU cornerback Tharold Simon was arrested.

His agent, Peter Schaffer, says that Simon is innocent.

“I have spent the better part of the morning investigating this matter, including getting statements from over 20 witnesses,” Schaffer told PFT by phone. “The witnesses corroborate that Tharold did nothing wrong, certainly nothing illegal, and he acted with dignity and class throughout the entire ordeal. I am 100 percent certain that no charges will be filed. We are looking into pursuing a lawsuit against the office for violation of Tharold’s civil rights.

“I am appalled by the behavior of the Eunice, Louisiana police department.”

That may or may not be enough to boost Simon’s draft stock. If it’s not, Simon’s potential damages could include the money he would have made if the untimely blemish hadn’t pulled him down the board.

Jay Glazer today was talking about how he tells the guys that train with him before the combine that they test for weed at the combine so don't and sure enough he said 2-3 idiots get busted. He went on to say that he bad mouths them to teams when they call about the ones that get caught, I don't blame him

Put him on special teams at first... Let Ryan get his hands on him an turn him loose. I think we are a player or two like this away from being better than we have been on D in a long - long time.

I lived in that town for most of my childhood, and all the way up to 19. This is the first player from that school who's been any kind of a draft prospect in a long, long time. And now, he has shamed his town... Nice going, Tharold.

Can't believe they still want to honor him. Innocent until proven guilty? Sure let's honor O.J, too, since he was "proven innocent". This isn't murder, but he made quite a scene, and there is no doubting his guilt.
