Re: Saints move up to get John Jenkins
It's sad to see Ivory depart, since he always ran with attitude and was a nice small school UDFA story.
But the RB position was one of the only positions with abundance of quality depth - as SP stated in the presser - and Ivory was entering a 1-yr $2M contract along with becoming an UFA next offseason. This was a good move since they were able to get that mountain of a NT we had discussed they needed to add, they also freed up $2M in cap space and were able to get something in return for Ivory which wouldn't have been the case next offseason. And in any case, I'm happy for Ivory since now he'll have an honest shot of being the #1 RB on a team, which is something that would never had happened with the Saints. He probably is relieved to know that he won't be spending another year wearing street clothes on the sidelines while the years he has left in the league keep counting down. I wish him all the best, but being that he was traded to the Jets; the only thing he can look forward to is individual success. |

True, but you have to believe that Ivory himself believes that he is capable of being a #1 RB for a team and take majority of the snaps behind the QB, and I don't enjoy seeing a guy "waste away" his best years as insurance. |
