After perusing the sports networks and big name websites it's apparent that the New Orleans Saints are in fact a myth. If you dig really deep you'll find the occasional reference to said team but this apparently is a smoke screen aimed at perpetuating the fallacy that such a team actually exists.

I know, Boutte, and I understand your frustration. I spent 7 years in
the NW Louisiana television viewing area. (The Fabulous Ark-La-Tex)

It was a surprise to thousands of people in the upper left corner of Louisiana
to find out that Louisiana had an NFL Team.

But on the upside, remember we're also not hearing about bounties, Tebow,
(who I actually like) or gay players.
