he might be our Paul Kruger

Re: Chase Thomas

More like a slower Clay Matthews IMO.

Kruger runs over you, Clay around you.

Chase is a probably a more intelligent player than both combined.

Looks pretty solid with playmaker ability. Still can't believe he wasn't drafted, but I'm glad we were able to snag him.

And Shanle allowed the earths rotation to move you around him...

Upgrade!

I like this kid... I like our entire draft class, actually. Hope it works out.

Looks great on the film. I just wonder what caused him to slip through the draft.

Re: Chase Thomas

I don't think there is any might to it This guy will ballout of control as soon as he learns and gets acquainted with our city and team! He played in a 3-4 system that he believes is alot like Ryan's he has also played both OLB and DE so he is versatile and he is a leader and Captain material he is going to be every bit as good as he can be because like Kruger he is an overachiever and has a motor that just won't stop! So as soon as Rex figures out Chase's strengths and weaknesses, which he probably has already done through film study and talking to Chase! Another thing to add about Chase Thomas and Kelvin Reddick is they will have a serious chip on their shoulder! Now I never really understood why you'd need extra motivation or more reasons to work hard or something to fuel your determination and desire, but I also I don't think I've ever seen two guys slide as far as they slid when they were scouted and graded as at the very least 5th rd grades! Most had Chase a 2nd or 3rd and Kelvin 3rd-5th! I believe the record number of players that declared early for the draft pushed the number of draftable prospects to a record high I mean LSU alone had 9 guys drafted and I believe 7 or 8 of them were underclassmen! So that gives you I guess a rational explanation for what happened but I bet you not 1 scout, GM, or coach would have predicted it but given the run on lineman early made all the skilled positions "qb,wr,rb,cb,te,safety, pass rusher" the perceived value and became almost every team's priority in the later rounds "I Guess" but I really have no idea but that's the only thing I can possibly come up with! Or the teams drafting in rounds 5-7 just plain forgot or they had already drafted the same position earlier, but I don't have a rational explanation that would have kept me from snagging either one of them in rd 6 much less 7! They should feel **** on!

Re: Chase Thomas

All these Shanle and Fujita comparisons aren't really needed! 3-4 OLB and 4-3 OLB are two totally different positions! 3-4 guys are way more rare and hard to come by atleast prototypical "length, strength, and speed" ones are hard to find! 3-4 guys have to do basically two different positions DE and LB they have to set the edge and rush the passer and the really dynamic ones can even drop and cover! So that's why they get paid usually twice as much or more! 4-3 guys are basically a safety that chases plays from behind and run free because they usually don't have anyone blocking them and roam free to tackle typically they don't take on blocks as well as 3-4 guys because of the length on 3-4 guys! Also 4-3 guys usually are safety like in that they have to be able to cover and run the seam with a TE or RB! That's why you'll see alot of bigger safeties switch positions to 4-3 OLB! I will say this since the league has gone more to a pass happy league both types are considered very important because so many teams have gone to a passing offense that require empty sets with 5 WR and TEs on the field which calls for more coverage and blitzing so both have their place but they are totally different!
