this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I just dont understand why it matters so much how high a tackle can jump or how fast he can run. I just want someone who can pass block. It wouldnt hurt to be able to run block either....

How high they can jump I would think would transcend to their ability to block or dive block on an outside run or screen so I think that's important. Their speed is used for the same reasons as well as trapping and pulling to open holes in the run game so I just think those measurable s are indeed important to the position of OT.

I think its simply another measure of overall agility and athletic ability. Tackles require that more so than OG's and OC's.
