When did the Saints release Devry Henderson?
 

He isn't listed on the team roster on the official Saints website, but the transaction history doesn't show him released/waived.

I could be wrong here but I believe his contract was up and he wasn't re-signed.

He was a free agent at the end of the season and has not signed with anyone nor re-signed with the Saints. I am still hopeful he does get back on our roster just for depth. He's always been one of my favorites.

He developed very nicely as one of the better draft stories this regime has had - and those draft stories have been slim as of late...

You're right that'll be nice to allow some of this new talent develop - but Devery, local/LSU bias aside, has always been one of the more down to earth players I've met and I for one hope we can find a place for him should the need arise...

Devery has been a quality receiver on our team for a long time. SUre he doesn't post massive numbers but his total contribution is fantastic, he has added amazing depth and moreover, when part of the trio of Moore and Colston, there has been seemingly no ego! You try and find that in a 3 deep receiving corps in the NFL today!!!

From the non emotive side of things, I think we now have a lot of depth above Devery that should and WILL be given a chance to shine. From the business side of things, I think we would be very foolish not to at least consider Devery for depth when he is at his absolute cheapest. Let us not forget he knows all of the coaches, the playbooks, the facilities etc etc.

If it is the right thing to do then he comes back. If it is not the right thing to do then we wish him all the best and keep him in mind.

Yeah, he simply hasn't been resigned. I want to see his spot taken by one of this young players. My thinking is he's on speed dial all year long in case anybody goes down or they feel he has more to offer while the youngsters grown on the PS.
He took too dang long to develope.......but when he did we had a winner. Thanks again and I wish him well.

The biggest thing with Henderson is that he has been our best blocking WR for a long time. Most long runs you see our RBs make he is squared up on somebody getting them out the picture.

Sure hope Stills "gets it" quick and understands it's not about being TO and Randy but about getting the ball across the goal line for the entire team and fans...:bng:

I disagree. It would be a mistake. Joe Morgan pretty much took his job down the stretch. Between Morgan, Toon and Stills our old standby Devery has seen his day pass.

Strengths: Natural athlete with excellent body control. Quicker than fast and more smooth than quick-twitch. Very good body adjustments to make grabs away from his body with soft hands and focus to extend and pluck. Good footwork in his routes and looks fluid in his breaks, helping him separate. Understands how to hide route intentions and his play reflects that of a veteran at time. Good route quickness and second gear to speed past defensive backs. A lot more physical than he looks with good toughness after the catch. Aggressively throws his body around and seems to enjoy blocking. Experience lining up both inside and outside. Always appears pumped up on the sideline and is known as one of the team leaders.

Did not know that. Good news even thou it might make it harder for henderson to hang around if he gets replaced in that aspect too.

No problems with Devery. If we can get him back cheap & he out performs the other guys at WR... He can play.

I think Devery got better thru the years. He's an even Quieter Storm, with
home run speed. You people give up on people too quickly.

I got 370,000 miles out of my truck.

Devery's got more knowledge and a lot of football left in him.
