I dont have the stats handy, but they gave up a lot of big plays. They also caused a lot of turnovers and sacks. He used a lot of wierd blitzes and coverages to confuse the offense. Not the vanilla stuff Venturi uses and everyone else figures out.

Venturi\'s problem is that he\'s too stupid to realize that a single strategy won\'t work all game. A good coordinator can make sound adjustments that will confuse the opposing team\'s coaches and coordinators. Venturi\'s plan worked for the 1st quarter, and that was it. From then on, he was outcoached by the 49ers. It took penalties and stupid turnovers for their offense to break down.

I had the sense that haslett\'s hand was in on the D-play calling. Venturi and haslett consulting all the time and together.
