Re: Saints lead NFL in 2014 cap commitment
Trade them all and have picks for the next 10 years. Well maybe not?.

Re: Saints lead NFL in 2014 cap commitment
We still have yet to get to camp much less know what the 2013 team will officially look like. There is also the issue of the 2014 cap not being any where near being set until after the 2013 season,
Its a little premature to look at 2014, Yastinkass must be running out of negative things to say about the Saints. He is an idiot and epically fails to either understand cap or just does not think some of us do. Here is how the present useless cap #s actually work out for 2014 2013 Adjusted Cap 125.1 Present roll over is not used 5.5M Dead money that falls off 1.1M So I see our 2014 cap situation as $118.5M Spotrac.com has us at $122.5 which includes Brees and everyone elses 2014 contract cap numbers. Grubs cap hit from 2013 to 2014 goes up from 4.3m to 9.1 = 4.8M Evans cap hit from 2013 to 2014 goes up from 6.7m to 11 = 4.3M Total increase on both players 9.1M Where are you looking to see 20m on both? |
Re: Saints lead NFL in 2014 cap commitment
I was talking about the combined cap numbers not the increase.
Poorly worded on my part. |

Re: Saints lead NFL in 2014 cap commitment
Hell's Bells! Has the cap situation for this year been totally sorted out?
|
Re: Saints lead NFL in 2014 cap commitment
I'm fairly confident Loomis will sort this out. Some key things for me:
1) Players are always willing to 'help out' and restructure because it usually involves them getting more guaranteed money which is exactly what they are after 2) Nobody has put up any figures for Cap Savings, i.e. all of the money committed this season that will not be present next season unless we re-sign players. So Vilma for example costs $3.8 million on the cap this year but then he is an UFA next season. That's an instant massive cap saving 3) We are always going to have, and rightfully so, a massive cap commitment to Drew Brees. There is every chance he will restructure as part of point 1 at some point, but eventually he will retire. Not trying to be a doomsayer, just saying that whilst we have a Hall of Famer under centre and giving us every chance of a lombardi, we do everything to keep moving cap commitments to the right until we get a huge chunk back. |
