That\'s 5 or 6 fumbles we won\'t have to worry about.

Here\'s the story:
McAllister sprains ankle New Orleans Saints running ... Monday, September 20, 2004 ESPN.com news services NEW ORLEANS -- Saints running back Deuce McAllister sat in the locker room Monday, his foot in a heavy orthopedic boot, saying he thought he\'d be able to play soon -- maybe even this coming weekend. He won\'t. Deuce McAllister Running Back New Orleans Saints Profile 2004 SEASON STATISTICS Rush Yds TD Rec Yds TD 16 57 0 2 20 0 \"He\'ll probably be out four to five weeks,\" coach Jim Haslett said. McAllister was injured on his third carry in the Saints\' 30-27 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. San Francisco defensive tackle Bryant Young grabbed McAllister\'s ankle and the pain was immediate, causing McAllister to drop the football. \"I felt it pop,\" said McAllister, who set franchise records in 2003 for yards from scrimmage (2,157) and rushing yards (1,641). \"That\'s why I dropped the ball.\" McAllister thought it was broken at first. X-rays on Sunday were negative and an MRI Monday showed a sprain, a stretched ligament where the shin bone meets the ankle. \"It\'s the same ankle he hurt two years ago,\" Haslett said. \"It\'s probably a little worse than it was.\" McAllister only missed one game with that injury, but played hurt for a long time. Aaron Stecker will start in McAllister\'s place, and the Saints will re-sign Ki-Jana Carter. Carter had been cut before Sunday\'s game with the 49ers. |

Carter already back on Monday, I guess he gets on call pay because it did\'nt take long for him to get back.

That sucks. Let\'s see what Stecker can do.

I think they will platoon Stecker and Carter and throw in a little Karney too. I don\'t think they want to put the whole load on anyone right now.

I dont think stecker is ready to do it on his own. I would like to see a combo of him and Karney. I think Karney is good, next year he will be considered an upgrade from Terrel Smith, if not by the end of this season.

If we\'re going to announce the starter who is going to carry the bulk of the load this coming Sunday, we might as well FedEx a copy of the playbook to Martz as well- hell, shouldn\'t cost too much, considering it can\'t be THAT FRIGGIN HEAVY!!!! :casstet:

The reason they kept Stecker as number 2 and waived Carter was because Stecker is more of a third down back, can\'t take the full time pounding, but Carter could and they obviously did\'nt need the competition for Deuce to motivate him. Stecker also got hurt, an ankle and thigh injury, so he want be at 100% either, I say run Carter on first downs and alternate players on every other down. Will keep us guessing, if not the defense. I think Stecker is alot faster than Carter and is alot better suited for pass plays, screens and the like.

Someone should remind Has and co that Devery Henderson used to be a pretty dang good tailback at LSU before he converted to reciever, with his speed and running ability, he would be a dangerous weapon out of the backfiled for Brooks
