A few points
Our receivers need to step up in the absence of Henderson and Meachem in a two year span. Morgan or Toon need to show they can be dynamic and flawed less.....We cannot afford flawed offensive performances against at least one team.
Watson has to show he can contribute in this offense as a offset TE like Hernandez. Ingram needs to continue the late momentum and play like a true no.1 back. Our LTs need to stay healthy! Jenkins needs to stay healthy and show we didnt waste a draft pick on him in his efforts to stop the run and bottle up blockers to allow Bunkley, Smith, Lofton or Wilson to get to the QB. I feel these four things need to happen for us to take the south back and to beat Atlanta week 1. Falcon posters on other forums are acting like they already have week 1 locked up. And I feel we need to put a stop to that. If this year is anything less than a division title, we may have to clean house with what we got and get the cap room to nab someone big. |
Re: A few points
I'm rather disappointed that right off the bat Ben Watson is injured, seems like we only signed him a couple weeks ago and he hasn't reached the field yet
I think with the big guys like John Jenkins, you have to wait for padded up sessions to really evaluate him - see his strength, how he sheds blocks, how fast off the line he is Agreed with WR's, one thing I wanted to add is that Nick Toon and Joe Morgan need to make some plays because if they don't there's a real chance that guy Jarred Fayson could come out of nowhere for the spot - All I've heard is how good he's looked from both days of camp SP will be working night and day to get ingram more involved and also to make sure he's not getting hit 2 yards behind the line of scrimmage every time, I think he may suprise some people this year One person I could say I am "worried" about is Malcolm Jenkins, seems to me like all we have heard so far from camp is - Quddus looks good, Coaches like Rafael Bush even more than Quddus and Vaccarro is making a handful of plays..........oh yeah and malcolm jenkins just blew a coverage for a deep TD In my opinion, I think there's a chance he won't be starting, Quddus, Bush or Vaccarro could beat him for the spot |
Re: A few points
Its early. Its veeeery early. Lets just wait & see who comes through for us. If it gets to September & we have these problems THEN we sound the alarm

Re: A few points
Morgan is the replacement for Henderson, and the last few games of last year he proved that... Are we still talking about Meachem?
Meachem and Henderson were situational receivers, has no effect on the rest of the receiving corps. |
Re: A few points
It's starting to annoy me to hear so many fans talking about so-called "injured players" at this time of the year. During this time the slightest little muscle strains and pulls can cause a player to be sidelined because it isn't worth the risk to cause further injury right now. I wouldn't even call what most of these guys are probably dealing with "injuries". More like "tweeks" and "boboes". :-) Many of them would still be playing on Sunday if we were midseason. This is the time of year to focus on the positives and allow everyone the chance to be ready to contribute when it comes time for training camp.

Less concerned about the recieving core, more concerned about Ingram.... without Ivory to warm him up!!!! |
Re: A few points
You raise some interesting. Points. IMHO Watson is going to be avaluable addition to our offense. We will run a lot of two TE. This will help the running game and our play action passing. It is time to find out if Ingram is a player or a bust.He needs for Payton to commit to the run game and keep the D honest. WRs. Hendersom and Meecham both contributed more than most give them credit for. Some WR has to step up and fill the void that those two guys left. Jenkins excelled at 34NT in college.I was thrilled at the move to get him in the 3rd rd. He is just what the doctor ordered. There is historically a 40% failure rate at this postion. LT is an area of concern.T Armestead will prove to be a good pick. The guestion is will it be this year? Brown has been a capable starter when he can stay on the field. His injury history is troubling. The wildcard I J. Smith. a. chnged of scenery might help him revive his career. Hope so
