Well Will Smith is the last Haslett era player left on the roster. Good luck to Devery where ever he goes, a real good guy. hate to see him go but we needed a replacement not complacency.

A complete turnaround of players when switching regimes isn't uncommon. Quite impressive for Smith to be haning on for this long. Especially since Ryan is the what fourth? DC so far under Payton.

FACT:

Devery Henderson dropped 4 passes in 2012, 3 in 2011, 5 in 2010, and 2 in 2009. That's 14 over 4 seasons.

His drop rate in that span is 7 percent, less than Donald Driver, Aaron Hernandez, Jimmy Graham, Wes Welker, Miles Austin, Steve Smith, Dwayne Bowe and Santonio Holmes, among others.

There is no official stat for drops ... but if you look at the stats, it does suggest a bit more than meets the eye.

14 drops over 4 seasons? Thats impressive, Jimmy graham dropped close to that amount of passes just last year

There are plenty of metrics sites out there that track these things.

As for what is "more than meets the eye" I would assume you are referring to targets-to-catch ratio. Which I would argue has more to do with the difficulty of completing a longer pass than drops, since Henderson was the deep threat.

57.6% catch rate for Henderson in those four years, as opposed to 64.6 for Colston. Not a big difference considering.

As already mentioned, Graham drops quite a few passes, but I don't see his career being subject to this "drops" narrative. Henderson's reputation for dropping passes is the result of intellectual laziness.

Can you link to one of those "metrics" ? And, yes, Graham has dropped quite a few more, almost unacceptably so. His big plays have made up for it. Henderson was hands of stone early in his career, after which he dramatically improved. His speed was an invaluable asset until recently where father time has caught up. His production has tapered off, not surprisingly, as his God given speed has waned. So in a sense, your point shows really a diminished production.

I don't know where it is, I Googled "dropped passes" and clicked on the first one that looked like it had solid information. It's not like I created it out of thin air or something.

You can believe it, or not, I don't really care either way. Got better things to do than argue for three days about a guy who's on the Redskins now.
