Khiry Robinson: Have the Saints Found Another Undrafted Running Back Talent?
1 Attachment(s)
Does Khiry Robinson have what it takes to continue this trend of unexpected running back talent?
Robinson transferred to West Texas A&M after earning his associate's degree from Blinn College. In 2012, Khiry was a huge part of the offense, rushing for 1,621 yards (6.6 YPC) with 15 TDs in 13 games. He also added 38 receptions for 430 yards and 4 TDs. At 6'0", 220 pounds Robinson certainly passes the eye test with his tough, physical running style while having the ability to make tacklers miss. He doesn't have excellent speed (about a mid 4.6 sec in the 40), but seems to have good instincts. Just take a look at this video. I simply see Chris Ivory type of potential here, except with better hands. While most of us may not have heard of Khiry Robinson, many analysts of the college game looked at Robinson as a sleeper in this year's draft. Most of them love his all around game (including his pass blocking ability) and his natural football instincts. He has not had the opportunity to play against the better defensive talent at the college level, but there have been plenty of NFL players that have followed the same path of emerging from a smaller school. If Robinson proves to have an excellent work ethic and continues to develop, he may be the next running back to have a big preseason. A preseason that Coach Payton simply cannot ignore. The Saints seem set at running back in 2013. Darren Sproles, Mark Ingram, and Pierre Thomas are locks to make the roster. It seems likely that Cadet is part of the future plans as well. However, if Robinson continues to prove that he has the ability to run hard, block, and catch the ball out of the backfield, Cadet's future with this team may be on the line. I know it's too early to tell, but recent history tells us not to count out the new running back in camp. I'm looking forward to seeing if Robinson is the real deal and if the Saints found another diamond in the rough. All I hear are good things about this guy......I'm trying not to get too excited though.

Re: Khiry Robinson: Have the Saints Found Another Undrafted Running Back Talent?
I'm torn. I like Cadet for his explosiveness, but a 220 pound bruiser with hands is quite appealing. I can't wait to see this play out. Is training camp here yet?!?!?!?!

Re: Khiry Robinson: Have the Saints Found Another Undrafted Running Back Talent?
I could see Cadet and Robinson both make the team. Cadet plays on all special teams units and can play WR in a pinch. He's more like a poor man's Darren Sproles.
If Robinson is indeed a Chris IRvory with better hands and if he shows he can stay healthy, I don't see how he doesn't make this roster. |

And Payton has always said he wants the best 53 players on the roster... |

Most likely Robinson is a final cut and then signed to the practice squad, unless he's just head and shoulders better than Cadet and blows up in preseason. |

Re: Khiry Robinson: Have the Saints Found Another Undrafted Running Back Talent?
I'd be surprised if they didn't find one. They do it every year. Sometimes more than one.

Re: Khiry Robinson: Have the Saints Found Another Undrafted Running Back Talent?
ok i watch a few games with him in it and i see a lot of PT in him. sets up his blocks really good but he is not near as shifty. Yet he looks to every bit as powerful as Ivory.
ok lets cause a stir here. If Mark Ingram flops again this year and this kid shows promise along with Cadet this could be the end of Ingram in New Orleans. He might become prime trade bait by seasons end. Once again i can not fault Mark as much as the saints blocking scheme. |

@1M per year he is not going anywhere until 2015.
