Sports radio broadcaster and blogger Kenny Wilkerson, who spent more than a decade covering the New Orleans Saints for WWL Radio and BlackAndGold.net as beat writer for the Saints died Saturday.

Colleagues said Wilkerson died after battling cancer.

A New Orleans native, Wilkerson spent 17 years at WWL Radio, as a sports reporter and host, as well as a sideline reporter during Saints Radio Network broadcasts of New Orleans Saints football games.

He co-hosted the station’s daily “Sports Talk” program with New Orleans sports icon Buddy Diliberto up until his death in 2005, and later co-hosted the program alongside former Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert. Hebert continues as host of the afternoon program with Deke Bellavia.
